Re: Some squad leaders need this bitch slapping
Dragon Valley is one of my favorite maps. The only times I haven't enjoyed it is jumping into the round partway on the US side and finding that we don't have a single flag on land and when one side has freaks in the air and the other side does not.
As for the Commander/SL issue, this is not the way it should go. Our job as Squad Leaders is to execute the Commander's orders. I am certain that if this behavior is observed by our admins, those SLs that refuse/ignore a Commander's order may well find themselves visiting the forums to explain themselves. Of course, it is incumbent on us to set the example for others. Talk to your Commander's and work with them.
On another note ... it would be mildly humorous to have a sound clip of Gny. Sgt. Hartman (R. Lee Ermey) tearing into his marines ... for those occasions when you have players/SL that don't follow orders.Last edited by Amador +JP2+; 10-23-11 at 04:56 PM.

If you think I need to pull up my pants, then you should just say so. I'm not afraid of criticism. If it's someone else, they might appreciate your constructive feedback.
If you think you know something about the game that someone else doesn't, you can try and help them learn or you can piss on their ignorance - with your own pants around your own ankles.
The game is old, but not everyone has been playing it that whole time. Of course there are SLs and COs who aren't very good at it - yet. Some of them may never be. GMG's comment was gruff, but it was helpful.
What you got?

Re: Some squad leaders need this bitch slapping
I share 'Love's' pain on this. I step up and command when needed, and like him I feel reasonably competent at doing the job (on some maps more than others). At the start of a round I check who is leading the squads and let the old hands (experienced players like GMG, Visuvius, kk98, etc) do as they need to start with. However, once the initial rush is over I then start organizing attacks and defence. The main problem is on the defence as few SLs really ever step up to defend a flag...some do with regularity but others, well, they would rather just be moving from A to B, which is fine as long as they are also maintaining the necessary momentum to win the round. Now a lot of other SLs - some names I know quite well - don't acknowledge you and don't bother to do anything you ask...but then don't hesitate to bitch like crazy if you don't have a UAV, artie strike, vehicle, supplies, ass wipe when they ask for it! It really does put one off commanding. Moreover, what really pisses me off on larger maps is that often nobody will bother to repair assets, mine roads, destroy bridges, etc...they act like this is totally beneath them!
So when I read 'Love's' post I indeed shared his pain. I mean, why would anyone want to step up and command when some players just decided to dick around and do as they likeThis is especially the case when the tactics used on most maps by the various teams are so well known to many a vet.
Okay, enough rant. Hope to get on tonight and kill some of you! LOL

Re: Some squad leaders need this bitch slapping
This is a fine line here..I am sure the issue is not with the regulars, but with the non-regular players that join the server. So what do you do, well, you can kick them and they will probably return and continue doing what they were doing or return with some friends and now we have a group of them dicking around with their paints down..lol..but it is a public server, like it or not..so if you have a squad, or personnel that are only in it for them selves and not the team work aspect, I say let them run around with their heads cut off and focus your efforts with the squads whom are willing to follow ones lead. I myself love the team aspect, I will intentionally switch sides to play in specific squads. Yes, I know that may be wrong, but I am paying my electric bill and I want to get the most fun out of each and every revolution that damn meter makes..lol..I know I suck as a CO and a SL, thus why you never see me as either, and because I dont have a mic..lol
