That's because you are already in a squad. TPG automatically puts you in a squad when you join. Leave the squad then click on a squad you want to join and hit the "join" button.

Yeah I just recently noticed the "join" button, good for when you're in a squad with no TS guys, or a squad leader in a jet...

It's a small button, kinda easy to miss.

There's also a 'bug' in the Squad screen that the 'Leave' button doesn't show up but you have to click "Cancel Squad Join" or something like that to leave your squad. DICE needs to work on that a bit and add more squads.

Also the bug where you don't have a squad leader, dunno if it will fix itself if you all leave the squad

It's very common, and very annoying.

In order to fix the no-SL bug, you need to all leave the squad and re-join.

Was really hoping not to see that bug again. I hated that in 2142. That's a huge problem for people like me that basically snap aim to movement. Fast target recognition is too fast for the engine to render so you cap friendlies....

It's further complicated by the umpteen different camouflage variations that you can 'unlock'.
