Re: I like having a whole team in one channel in TS
Jesus I can't believe we are even discussing this? It is a horrible idea on a ton of levels to go back to everyone in one channel, even at 16 people. It's utter chaos and it seems like productivity actually goes down.
Echoing Tenrou, look at the God damn map, rely on your SL. You shouldn't expect to get all of your battlefield information through a constant flow of chatter in one channel -- it's actually kind of lazy. Look at the map, talk to your SL, and finally, it's a God damn huge battlefield you're not going to know what's going on, on every inch of the map constantly.
Now SL chat sounds awesome and would be incredibly handy. I like the idea of setting up a party for that but it would be a pain in the ass with people leaving and rejoining and shuffling around.

It wouldn't be 16 players per channel, it'd be 16 TOTAL players between the 2 teams. So it'd be like 8 per side.

Ok reading these arguments maybe I'm just bitter and jaded with how shitty BF2 squad chat was for me, I would join squads with no communication most of the time, Then when I tried to play on TPG yesterday I got the same thing happening.
As to the map thing maybe if they had giving us a proper map that would work better.

Eh whats wrong with the map? It gives you 3 different options in map size. Then allows you to expand the map or keep it mini.
Tip for those who don't know if you hit the "N" key on your keyboard it will give you a more pulled back version on your mini map. You can do this 2x the final version is a full map where you can see all the flags. Which ever magnification you choose can then be expanded on your HUD using "M" key on your keyboard.

What's wrong with it is I'd prefer a map like in BC2 that's bigger than that map, you know fill the screen.

HORRIBLE IDEA.
I for one will never be seen in TS again if this changes and will just use vent to talk with my squad exclusively. BC2 TS was a headache of players ordering over each other.QuickLightning liked this post

i must object to that i played a lot of BC2 on TS and there was no mess it was all calm and organized in fact the more we communicated the better we played. so i must disagree with your comment. i understand that sometimes on rare occasion there might have been confusion but its not so confusing if 1 you know who is speaking and 2 you call out names of people you want to direct. i would say we should split the teams into to channels and have squad chats open so that they can be utilized if you want to use it. if need be though squad leader chat is my minimum requirement. however since you cant pick your squad leader and you are stuck with them this presents a few problems. 1 what if he isnt on TS 2 what if he has no mic 3 what if he is new to TS and doesnt have the proper set up to speak to other squad leaders. those problems and the idea of two channels for each team should be considered.

Re: I like having a whole team in one channel in TS
If we just change the current auto squad TS channels to optional, then no one is going to want to alt tab and keep switching from squad to squad. So far TS squad voip has been working out like a champ for me and my squad, but then again, I play with squadleaders that know what the fuck they are doing. There are enough regulars that play TPG that you can find a competent SL that is using TS. The only thing that would make the current system better is if squadleaders had a separate comm where they could communicate with each other.
I've played BC2 quite a bit and every time I join TS I need to leave after ten minutes because it's just too confusing trying to distinguish people's voices, vague multiple orders, and general chatter. I have a much easier time with distinguishing three voices from each other.
