Thread: I like having a whole team in one channel in TS

Just a quick note on unsquaded... It isn't possible to make a 1 man squad. If you do you remain unsquaded until someone else attempts to join that squad. I was worried about being kicked for that the other day. All other squads were full at the time, i had no choice.

This isn't bf2 where we had in-game voip. I'd rather sit un-squad, and at least be able talk to another player than sit in squad with no one but myself in TS.

I like the current setup. I think with 12 or less having team chat is fine. Once you top that it gets way to chatty to make much use of what is being said. Ideally we will have the SL "channel" soon, and then it will be as close to perfect as you can be without in game VoIP.

And if you can talk with another player, you can squad up with that player. A squad with an SL to spawn on will be more effective than a lone wolf spawning all the way back a flag.

No you can't. If the only squads are 3/4 both of you can't get into the same squad. I've had this happen me more than few times.

Then make your own squad with the other person. Just tell them which empty squad you are joining and you both should pop right in. I have done that a few times as well. You can also use chat to try and get the other people in TS. That would help your team even more.

Loki this happens when server is almost full. There are no empty squads only ones have 1 spot which means your either stuck with 3 people not on TS or sitting un-squad, and talking in team channel. You'd be surprised how man 3/4 squad crop up leaving you little choice.

Yes. DICE was rather short-sighted to only provide the EXACT number of squads for each team needed to support 32 players. They need to maybe double, or at least add half again as many squads to make it more flexible.

Sorry I did not elaborate on my point, so here it goes.

My point is that this system DOES WORK for large team games, just like in BF2. When it comes to coordination and team size, this game is just like BF2. For years we've had 30 player teams that did just fine with a squadleaders leading their squadmembers and half the time with a commander that wasn't worth a damn. TPG regulars know how we play and the teamplayer code and for the most part you can find squadleaders using voip. Right now the biggest problem isn't the lack of coordination, but the maximum amount of allowable squads per side, which is keeping regular squadleaders from making squads when the server is at full or near full capacity.

If the powers that be are actually considering changing the current auto squad TS system, I really hope they make it an optional channel so we can see just how popular it actually is.
