Have problems with the game freezing and crashing?

Since release I have had problems with the game freezing, It would lock up, I had to ctr alt del and close the game. (windows didn't actually crash, just the game) Well I have been searching and finally found a fix...

Apparently this is only for those with Windows 7/Windows Vista 32-bit.

    * In Windows 7/Vista go to Start menu. Go to Accessories. Locate the command prompt shortcut and hover
mouse over it. Right Click on the shortcut then select Run as Administrator.
    * In the command prompt type this exactly: bcdedit /set increaseuserva 2500. Then hit enter.
    * Make sure you get a message back confirming the change was made. To verify the entry is there you can
type just bcdedit, hit enter, and you should see the entry now listed.
    * Then close the command prompt. You just told Vista to increase user virtual address (userva) space to
    2500MB.
    * Changes take effect on reboot but don't reboot yet.

    SUMMARY
We extended the user virtual address space in XP, Vista and 7 to 2500MB, so now applications can utilize up to that much if they are set to be Large Address Aware. While some 32 bit games/applications are set, Empire is not.

Now reboot the PC because Windows needs to set the userva at 2500 which only happens after startup.

    Hope this can help someone.

All is good here on Win7 64 bit without having to make changes. Quad processor, 8 gig o' ram, and m5850 ATI video card. Did I mention this is on a laptop :-)

I would get black screen w/only mouse cursor occasionally during a map change and random crashes. Would have to ctrl alt del as mentioned above. Now for some reason the game won't start at all. Tried doing a repair and a re-install. Still same problem. I'm tempted to say this is a driver problem, but I don't have anything to back that up.

I did have to update my gpu drivers when I first installed, but they're up to date now, so I don't know. It was working earlier today and now nothing. I didn't change anything :t

Re: Have problems with the game freezing and crashing?

OK figured out a fix for my problem. THIS GAME IS FUBAR! I had to go to C:\Users\username\Documents\Battlefield 3 .....and delete the settings folder. Something must have gotten corrupted. I'm not sure what's saved in here. Hopefully I didn't lose any unlocks. I'll post an update of my findings later, but the thread I found on this had this solution as well as many others posted so if someone is having similar issues they might want to check it out: Battlefield 3 has stopped working (right on launch).

This game is a mess @___________@

    ...............sigh............

Now I'm having this problem. I been trying to play for the past 45 minutes.

it says "...the program stop working correctly..." at launch.

I tried repairing it. But now I think its stuck....

uninstalled it downloading again.hopefully that fixes it.
