Re: Concerning Operation Metro
TPG = Full Rotation. There have been numerous "meat grinder" maps that have graced (and continue to grace) TPG's map rotation in a variety of BF games. BF2 Tampa/Karkand, BF2142 ;'( Belgrade/Berlin/Tunis/Gibralter, BC2 Cold War/Atacama.
Etc

Re: Concerning Operation Metro
Tampa is considered a meatgrinder? Lol
it's not even fair to compare maps like karkand or Camp G. to Metro.... We are talking about a map that was obviously designed for tight infantry combat with only 24 players. But since DICE promised a while ago that all maps would support all game mode, they had to come up with this.... thing...
Anyway, seing that some people actually enjoy this pos, it's not even worth trying to get rid of it. I Hope the spam won't get old too fast.

Re: Concerning Operation Metro
Well - ok tampa is not so much a meat grinder (not sure about BF2) but in BF2142 Gas Station was the most contested flag on the map and was often where 80% or more of the "casualties" took place.
Gamp G, Berlin and Tunis/Cerbere were definitely meat grinders. Especially Fall of Berlin. Those were some of the most one sided maps in the game. Berlin more than Camp G. It was almost impossible (absent a very good tactical commander and team) to make it out of the "attacking" uncap. While most of the other maps in 2142 were not so heavily one sided that teams couldn't get out of their base, there were a huge number of very linear maps (a la Rush) that teams could get trapped after the first flag or two if they hung back. At that point it became a "fish in a barrel" situation for the "defenders".Last edited by Alundil; 10-31-11 at 12:54 PM.

Re: Concerning Operation Metro
There are other maps that are the same way, look at the tunnel map if you don't cap C you are screwed and lose. That is just how some maps are.
That being said I think this map would work much better if squad leaders could talk with each other and plan a coordinated push from one spot.
This map would also play much differently if they had smoke grenades or flash bangs available. Come on DICE implement some of this shit!
There is nothing I enjoy more though than dropping C4 down the escalators and blowing up some baddies.

Re: Concerning Operation Metro
You need to control two points, lock them down, AND HOLD. Then send a couple of sharpshooters ahead to the third flag to keep pestering the opposition, this prevents them from setting up a full assault on B. It works, but the few you send forward have to be strong... Otherwise they get dropped quick and now your down a few for a fulll attack on B..
