Thread: New Pilots

Wow, I hopped in the jet the other night and while I didn't get any kills I managed to disable 2 or 3 other jets before someone made me panic and crash. I've never been able to fly in any of the BF games properly and I'm very determined to fly well in this one so that I can unlock everything.

I don't want to be a shitty pilot on my favorite server though. I make sure that there are 2 jets available before I take one so that if an ace pilot spawns he can grab it. I'm also doing well enough to be having a lot of fun with it. I take it that shooting things on the ground remains difficult even when you're a grizzled veteran, yeah?

Either way if anyone has some advice or if you know of a very good instructional video then post it here so that we can all share in the fun that is piloting.

Good post, I'm also looking to brush up on my flight skills. Still find it hard to hit ground targets effectively, but rocket pods will help that I'm guessing. Haven't set up the old joystick yet but once I get that tweaked I'm sure that will help. Choppers are easy enough to take out which is nice. I've noticed there seems to be two lock tones. One that signifies that someone has a lock and then another that goes off when a missile is actually in the air. I always wait for that second tone to go off and it hasn't let me down yet. Not sure if everyone knows that yet because I still see a lot of pilots hitting their flares early. Might just be freak out reaction, not sure.

Sad to say this but the best way to learn is to prime. Unfortunately Bf3 doesn't allow freedom of the map without the required 8 players, and then its a game. Low Server pop is your best bet.

Once they fix the inverted setting or fix joysticks, I will let you know.

Here and there. No where near as bad after the server update that they did. I was getting ready to uninstall and go back to BC2.
