BF2 was perfect. We didn't have squad bugs that required server restarts. We didn't have red/blue name tag bugs that caused me to TK people. We didn't have thousands of jeeps raining down from heaven. We didn't have people hiding in solid rocks, or rooms with no doors or windows. We didn't have boats and APCs that could do 5 times the game designed speed. We didn't have 3 separate expansions that required a totally different server to run those maps. We didn't have an official map released that required a separate download, thus killing the server because only about 40% of the players actually downloaded it. We didn't have overpowered air assets. We didn't have dolphin divers. We didn't have a patch process of game>patch>SF>patch>patch>Tampa. Yeah, we didn't have any of that, we just had the best game ever made.
Or did we...
Sorry, I just thought some of us needed a reminder of how bad the "good ol' days" actually were, and I only started playing BF2 in December '06, so I can't even address the bugs the first 2 years or so.

Yup, DICE is an awful game developer who releases games long before they are ready and takes a ridiculously long time to fix bugs, that is what many of us have been saying from the beginning. They have amazing ideas and a great base for the design, but the management is sickeningly greedy and pushes the game out while making bold lies so that they can compete with Call of Duty - a tried and true shooter that has stuck to what made it popular.
I don't doubt that I will buy the game 6 months to a year down the road. Doesn't mean the game is as amazing as you and Kraker make it out to be though. The game was released WAY before it was ready and should be regarded as such. It's not perfect and you shouldn't just openly accept and support the release style they are doing. Voice your displeasure with their management so they (and other customers) know what they are doing is the wrong way to handle a community so HOPEFULLY it will change for the next releases.
If you just suck it up and eat shit every time they release it, they will just assume you like shit and keep producing it in larger bulk packages.
In the meantime, I will stick to playing my multiplayer indie games like Dungeon Defenders that is amazingly fun, bug-free (haven't seen a SINGLE bug) has working VoIP and cost $15. You can go on and enjoy your newest Call of Duty competitor.Last edited by QuickLightning; 11-02-11 at 11:37 AM.

Good point. We often focus on the negative as humans generally do.
Positive things about the game:
1. The gun accessories system allows you to configure the same gun for multiple roles.
2. Playing with friends is easier than before.
3. The game includes Coop.
4. The game archives the stats at the end of each round so you can look back and see how you are progressing.
5. It is fun.Glitch liked this post

Don't get me wrong, I don't think the game is perfect, but I also don't think there is a better game available right now for the way I want to play games. Like Alundil said in another topic I play games to play with friends, and for teamplay. BF3 allows me to do both quite well.
Bottom line is I know the game is flawed, but I am shit sick, and fucking tired, of people that act like BF2 was perfect from day one. Hell, it still has problems. I also totally agree with your point of us voting with our dollars. If EA didn't sell 5 million copies week one then they wouldn't be putting out a sub-par game. By that same token how much have I wasted on TF2 Monday Night Combat, Worms, L4D1 and 2, and 2 CoD games that I never play?
All games are flawed in one way or another, and anyone who can't see the good, or bad, in a game is just a sheep.
