Teamplaying Help
Hello all,
You may have seen me from bf2 days and from the bf3 server as im a reg there and play alot with other regs aswell. Im not much of a forums person, preferring to just play the game and talk with my squad but sometihngs been bugging me so i was wondering if i could ask for your help.
Those of you that know me know i love my vehicles. Ive currently unlocked everything for all vehicles except for mobile AA and scout helis, im workin on mobile AA next.
Thing is i also love the teamplaying that happens here and im always trying to be a better teamplayer, its just that i find that many times my squad wants me on the ground, rather than in the air or in a tank; and im all for that its just many times i feel i can make a greater contribution to the team by doing what i do best; vehicles.
So my question is, how can i be more useful to my squad while at the same time being in an attack chopper? or jet? or other vehicle? I feel that these vehicles are more for helping out your team as a whole, rather than just only your squad. Thus it hurts your squad, even more so now that squads are only 4 players, not 6.
Also people in squad with me call out what you need help with! if theres a tank harassing you, spot it out and ill light it up! its hard to see stuff from the air unless its spotted!
Im trying to get the best of both worlds here guys your comments are appreciated!

Hey Jotega, I have played with/against you quite a bit on the BF3 server. I think BF3 makes it harder because there are only 8 squads, so the air assets have to be in a squad with GPers. I would say the biggest key is letting your squad know what you are doing. If they are attacking B, but there is a tank at C, just let them know you are going to try to take out the tank, then you will support them.

yes i agree with you people should call out targets but also you should say something as well like i am in a jet i can help you or i am in a heli i can help you. but one i thing you should do is not fly or ride in low seating vehicles if you are squad lead it restricts the squads movement and reaction time. just remember always talk to your squad on your where abouts while in a vehicle especially in a flying one.

I'd say specifying that you intend to play in the vehicles and ask that your squad work with you on that. Ask them if they need a pickup from their current location so the squad can shift its focus from one flag to the next for example... I'd say declaring your intentions/availability will open up new options to the squad leader and thusly the squad, giving everyone a win/win situation.
Ultimately though, some of the vehicles only have so much use to you and your squad, since like you said, you benefit your team more than your squad. Transport helicopters are good for going from a-b, but once you are there you'd better be spotting like crazy or really good with those guns to make the lack of a squad mate on the ground worthwhile.
I feel like the nature of some of the vehicles are just that you are more isolated(for example jets or AA). Not much you can do about it since that's the game, but Id suggest swapping squads to let some other ground pounder in on your squads communication while you head to a squad that's not in ts.
Communicate, and hopefully your squad will work with you to create more interesting situations. I'm sure others may disagree but that's how I feel anyway.

Re: Teamplaying Help
But if im constantly telling my team where i am and what im doing, im going to have alot more radio chatter than GPs wont i drown them out?
I hear you on the typing in chat thing phoenix, i will work on doing that.
Just as it is right now sometimes i feel like "hmm, shud i get in a vehicle and do what im good at? Or should i be a teamplayer?"
I want to feel like a i can be a teamplayer AND still be in a vehicle, not have to choose between the twoLast edited by Jotega; 11-21-11 at 01:58 PM.

I agree with Civil too. But will add a little something. Most everyone knows when in my squad and at the larger maps I perfer being in the armor and I will tell them to keep bringing up the armor. When I am in anothers squad, I usually ask SL what he wants me to do. So Jotega, don't beat yourself up so much over it. Several times I hang out in the "Not in squad" room if I can't find a good one, (until we get the option to make our own squads). I don't like following a SL if they are not on TS or do not give orders, which seems to be more and more lately when a full server. Sounds like you should SL on the maps you like to drive.

Re: Teamplaying Help
The TPG way is to follow orders period, whether you agree or not. There would not be team play if everyone just ran around doing as they felt best for them. We play as a team, we win as a team and we lose as a team. So even though you feel that your better at one thing your taking away from the team play if you don't follow orders.(if your given an order) I've had to sit and hold flags while others raged in the fighting and it sucks however I was following oders and doing my part of the bigger picture. SL'ing so you can make the choices would be great, just keep in mind that you have to LEAD your squad.
