Thread: BF2 update 1.5 crash to desktop

I know I have seen this discussed before, but for the life of me I cannot find it with advanced search, so I am giving in and posting up after all.

I built a new system (windows 7 pro x64) and successfully installed BF2. It ran just fine, but when I updated it with version 1.50 it stopped working. Now when I attempt to start the game the screen goes black for a moment and then crashes to desktop.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

Try the following...

• Make sure your GPU is updated with the latest drivers.
• Make sure your running in admin mode.
• Check your refresh rate for monitor.
  
  • In some case depending on your GPU software. You can set what refresh rate to run particular games at. So, make sure its set to 60hz min for BF2.
• Set BF2 refresh rate and screen resolution manually.
  
  • Here is a site that can give you some help on how to do that..
• If all else fails. Let us know we will see what we can come up with...

The GPU is current. I am running in admin mode. I checked resolution and refresh rate (60Hz). I went into the default profile and made sure the video.con was set accordingly.

I just don't understand why v1.41 runs but after the update to 1.50 it craps out. BF2 is not installed on my primary drive. I am not sure if that is the problem, but again v1.41 didn't seem to mind ... I have to believe I am missing something obvious, but I just do not know.

I haven't tried another 1.5 download. That's also a good idea. I'll give that another go.

I'll check on PBA and B ... I checked for BF2 and PR, but not PB.

I think the patch was corrupted ... wrong file size. I d/l this morning and will give it a shot tonight again.
