Like styley said the others were out there. And Knight how long has it been since you have seen the first 3? Could it be your memories of them 10-15 years ago was that fond that you forget their out-there-ness?

thank you grave. i absolutely forgot how much i abhorred that part.

im going to go ahead and spoil this since its pretty irrelevant to the plot.

heres what happens: henry gets in a situation where a nuke is about to be dropped about a mile away and so he hides in an old refrigerator. they try to justify it by showing the fridge is lead lined.... lead only protects you from fallout radiation NOT the incinerating blast that somehow blows him miles into the air and he then happily lands on the ground and rolls out unscathed. NOT A SINGLE BROKEN BONE.

naturally. only bad guys would be harmed in such a case. movie magic Knight. people love em because they are dream worlds not for the reality of them. Just like many players of video games like reality to a point but need their 15 second respawn sort of thing.

I thought that he was farther away from the blast, and that in the absence of a basement, the fridge was a logical, realistic idea. Then I saw it flying through the air and bouncing at like 80mph.,..........

i guess i should just point out that this was all pretty much an opinion thing as far as what i said goes. didnt mean to spoil anyone's fun lol.

i guess when it comes to action im just more of a Saving Private Ryan type guy. but i still love my horror and comedy too

Oh, so this is where the Crystal Skull thread is hiding.

Coming out of the theater with friends, we were talking about this, and I said much the same as you, knight. And then someone made a very good point: the trilogy satirized the Nazi regime and WWII. Since they had to move forward in time because Harrison Ford, as well as he's aged, is still 60-odd years old... well, they moved forward to poking fun at space pulp, the Red scare, and the nuclear bomb.

I don't know about you, but that put it much more in perspective for me, and I think I'd enjoy it a lot more on a second viewing. As it was... well, let's just say I have a decent amount of anthro training, with an emphasis on Mesoamerican archeology (that's what all the profs did, so it was inevitable), and it made that part of me wince. A lot.
