I think it's a bitch move. If I remember right, Rocket is working on a way to fix this so you can't do it anymore.

Pussy move. Ive never done it in combat with Zeds or players. I did do it tonight when the server got hacked, but i was too late and my 38 minute old character was killed.

Agreed, DC'ing is only condoned against Hackers.
Some folks have a lower moral standard when it comes to video games and the Internets. I will admit there are a few in our group that openly advertise their disconnections. This is appalling and lowers my tolerance of these people.
