    Gaining certifications (Certs)

I'm going to gather that many know how it works already, but having a quicky guide on how to gain them and the ways I don't think will hurt anyone, and maybe help those who didn't already know.

A bit of background, certifications are what you can use to unlock abilities, accessories, and the sort for your character's different classes and weapons. For example a medic can improve the speed they heal other people, or a engineer how fast they repair armor. You can upgrade your armor or health, to survive longer and take more damage. One of my favorites is you can unlock scopes for your weapons, both short range, medium range, and long range. Allowing you to better see what you are trying to shoot at. Certifications can also be used to unlock new weapons (as can station cash) if you so desire something different then your standard gun.

There is a very simple way to gain certifications, and thus be able to begin unlocking abilities and the sort; You gain XP and you'll gain certifications. XP is gained for doing any number of tasks, be it from killing everything that moves (and isn't on your team of course!) or supporting other through repairs, healing, ammo, spotting, kill assists, etc. Oh and don't forget helping take bases and territory!

It takes 250 XP to gain 1 cert, 1000 to gain 4, 2000 to gain 8, and well you get the picture.

So, how do you get XP to get the certs to get the new abilities, accessories, and weapons? Well there are numerous ways to get XP, allowing for any play style to
be able to gain certs without being at too big a disadvantage. There are XP points for killing the enemy, for healing your friends, for capture bases, repairing vehicles and equipment, even for putting down great spawn spots! Generally, if it will help your faction, you'll get XP for it.

There are times you get basically bonus XP on top of the base XP for an action. If you are helping to defend a base, you'll get a % bonus (I've seen mostly 10-15%) to any XP gains while you are there helping to defend. If you are on a server which your faction is pretty well outnumbered, you'll also get a % boost to XP gained until more of your faction mates show up and help even it out ([B]credit to Blakeman[/B)]. I've seen it as high 4% before.

Below is a list of actions which will gain you XP and how much (List still a work in progress):

    Kills: around 100 XP
Headshot: 10 XP (not 100% on that though)
    Kill Assist: around 25 XP
Critical Kill Assist: around 50 XP
    Kill Streak Stop: 25 XP
Destroying Airplanes/Air assets: 100-500 xp (Credit to kawaltd750)
Destroying a Vehicle: 100 XP (plus Kill XP) (Credit to Option Hunter)
Destroying a Fighter: 75 XP (plus Kill XP) (Credit to Option Hunter)

Healing (per every +6 hp healed iirc): 10 xp, 15 XP if squad mate
Revive: 75 XP, 115 XP if they are in your squad/platoon (Credit to Stupid N00bie )
Repairs: 5xp, 10 XP for squadmate (corrected thanks to Glitch)
Ammo supply: 10 xp per person supplied, 15 XP for squad mate
Spotting (once said object is destroyed): 10-25 XP depending on what you spot

Sunderer spawns: 2 xp per person that spawns there (Credit to darthxaos)

Sabotage (setting up generators to explode): around 100 XP
    Point Conversion: 25 XP
Capture: 250-1000 XP (small to big)

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If anyone has some numbers on XP for other things, preferably from experience and not a wiki/outside source (not saying that is bad, just I like it better when guides are based off our vast knowledge at TPG, not other peoples =p). It'd help make this much more complete and you'll get credit for it.

Sunderer spawns, 2xp per person that spawns at your sundy. Which is great when you place the one that the zerg is using to rush that bio lab.

Killing vehicles gains you 100xp, plus 100 xp per person in the vehicle you killed. Shooting down a fighter gives you 75xp plus 100 for the person in it.

Reviving a squadmate gives about 115 xp per revive, so pick them up in the middle of a crossfire to farm some serious xp!

    Simple things amuse simple people.

    Re: Gaining certifications (Certs)

When I repair I get (5xp) not 10. However occasionally I get (6xp 10% bonus) instead. I an not sure what gets me that bonus, it isn't squad related as I get it when I play solo too.

For Ammo I toss a ammo pack at the feet of any max I see as well as toss one down every time I am not moving. I am surprised how much exp I get from doing that at the warp gate for the idiots that are test firing.

That said I still only have gotten about 60 total certs thus far and at least 8 of those came from the 1000 point plant captures.

I saw a review during beta where they said you get large exp jumps for "achievements" like 100 total kills etc but I have never seen anything else about that.

Sometimes you get bonuses from the amount of folks on. If your faction has less folks on than other factions you get an xp boost to compensate for the lack of players in your faction.

Also if you have SC or plan on getting some, buying a XP boost grants a +50% xp while equipped for the time period you have it.
