Recruiting.
So, it occured to me today while leading my squad of half TPGers and half non-TPGers that I have a few questions about how we would go about recruiting.
Obviously, the first step is advertising the website using ingame means to those who are not a part of TPG. I would like to say that I think we should be advertising to people regardless of if they are in an outfit or not. The reason being is because TPG is not a clan, so I don't think there should be any problems with other outfits coming to check out the site.
My question is directed more towards those who do not have an outfit, and want to join ours. When do we allow them to actually join the outfit? Do we require a post count to be invited to the outfit? Or do we just let anyone who wants to be a part of the outfit join? Do they need to be active on the forums, or simply just have an account? Or do they even need an account to be invited to the outfit? What kind of requirements do we have?

Re: Recruiting.
I usually direct them to the site and teamspeak. If they want to join our outfit, I would ask them to post in the outfit thread. It's easy, simple, and it will weed out the people who just want an outfit for an outfit's sake.

Re: Recruiting.
Oh yeah, and I also think we need to set some rules down for TPG squads. We can't set rules for the game itself, but I think having a few rules set for TPG squads would help to manage them.
I have a few to suggest.
1. All TPG squads must be open to all players, regardless of if they are in the outfit or not. It's ok to keep it closed to first invite TPGers, but once all TPGers have joined the squad, the squad leader should make it public.
2. All TPG squads need to be named "TeamPlayerGaming.com (Teamwork Req.)". *I usually add a "Mics a +" to the end of my squads name, but I don't think we have to do this.*
3. The squad leader must make use of ingame Voip rather then Teamspeak, unless the ingame Voip is not working properly. In this case, the Squad leader should invite all squad members to Teamspeak using Squad Chat.
4. Before the Squad Leader leaves the squad, he must first promote another TPGer in the squad to squad leader. If there are no TPGers in the squad, then the squad must be disbanded.

Re: Recruiting.
I personally think it should ultimately be up to the SL, like it has been in the past. We're all pretty much like minded in Planetside 2 at the moment, so I don't think people will have an issue trying to do these things... But laying down rules? I don't see the need.
We pretty much all try to use in-game voip and sit in Teamspeak to welcome the new fellows joining in. We usually name our squad something along the lines of TeamPlay. The squad is usually public unless someone forgets to make it so.
But as for promoting another TPGer to squad leader... I'd like to start that habit as well. It would keep the squad focused after the SQ left.

Re: Recruiting.
Granted, I haven't been playing Planetside much. And when I do, I'm Squad Leader. So I have no idea how other squads are run.
My concern is for if/when new people start joining the outfit, and if/when they decide to make TPG squads. They should know that, by doing so, they are electing to represent TPG in a game where the only thing we have is our name, and our players. Having rules set down for Squads would help show them that we take our image seriously, and that they are representing us by making a TPG squad. I have no doubt that all our current players know how to represent the community. My concern is just for those who are new.
#4 is the most important. This one everyone should follow, regardless of if we decide to implement rules or not. If a TPGer leaves the squad in the hands of someone who is not a part of TPG, or in its outfit, with the Squad name advertising our community, it could lead to incredible abuse and create a bad image for TPG in general.
Also, you make a good point on recruitment. I was just wondering if we wanted those in our outfit to also be active on the forums.

Re: Recruiting.
I suggest to type in squad chat box every once in a while the TPG website, call it out in VOIP once an hour and the name of the squad should be Teamplayergaming.com, exactly as it would be typed in a web browser.
