Re: Lost tents after sever reset
Was thinking on posting what you said, but decided it was your call.
More than any other hosted game, this needs to be a community effort. Believe that we need to think a bit on how do do it. Earlier this week, knew the big issue was vehicle spawns, so I targeted information on that. What I don't know is what to go after now. There are a number of things I -think- might be needed, but don't know what you highs really need now, today.
Access to the admin forum for the to-do list is a no go. Maybe a "Research Needed" thread? Don't want to eat too much into your actual hands-on work time though. The balance between the two is your call.
Conversely, those players who log a lot of time (or even a little) discover issues/anomalies/improvements that are not externally obvious. Some are just endemic to DayZ, and beyond our control. Others are. Those observations are sometimes valuable and believe they need a home too.
My offer to help still stands
Thanks very much to Nuckle, Hub, and Enf!Sent from an undisclosed location.

Re: Lost tents after sever reset
The access we are saying a "no-go" to is the dedicated server itself. To be able to actually have "hands on" help so-to-speak, would mean you would need access to the server files, which in turn would mean you need access to the box...
And that's a no-go. One wrong click can screw up and/or delete ALL the servers on the box (CSS, DoD, TF2, TS3, Procon, Vault, match servers, etc..)
Not to mention all the super secret confidential documents we possess.
That's why we can't just accept the kind of help yall want to give, but don't get us wrong.. we would absolutely love it. That also leads to another problem.
Too many cooks in the kitchen = no bueno
The high admins learned that WAY back in the day. Blonde is doing it right with the thread he started with links and what not.
That's perfect Blonde.

Re: Lost tents after sever reset
Guess Im just confused. Know and agree that both code and admin forum access is a no go. Been over that with Nuckle.
Was trying to make org/info suggestons in-line with Enfs -offer to help instead of complaining- point. If you need something researched, was trying to suggest one way to do it.

I play wasteland, still. It's not boring. Gear/loot is common, no Hive, no saves, forces confrontation. No point in C-logging.
I don't understand the Teams in Dayz. Some have goals, some are killers, some are blood bag bambis(my team). Whats the point of our server? 14/50 isn't the most fun.
oh and the Holidaze.....
I have Camo, mk48, and some other stuff at the NWAF. If anyone wants my stuff I'll gladly give it up.

I agree with you Scion, but like Enf and others have said all good things take time and effort. We can't expect our server to have max population a month in. We have to set up the server correctly and slowly build up our numbers. Then the players who play will tell their friends and the pop will increase which will then attract even more players.
So far we are doing it right. It's just going to take some time. I'm hoping in the future we can have a Wasteland type server at TPG if the mod is still popular. Better yet Arma3 when it comes out.

Re: Lost tents after sever reset
Regarding the disappearing tents issue. I had set one tent after i had died and experienced the first tent wipe, and wondered if there was some lingering effect that would cause tents to disappear on the next restart after you die. Well i can confirm, the test tent that i set after my first death is still there after my second death, and a few server restarts.

Fort Salty has officially been lost...My little two tent encampment survived all of the wipes but the most recent one.
Oh well, I suppose it was a necessary sacrifice. Getting vehicles spawning again was more important.
