01-18-13, 11:36 PM #1The Battle of Quartz Ridge
This is probably the most epic night I think any of us have experienced so far.
[Pre-Battle Ops]
First, we were just running around, fighting the TR as usual. We got to Dahaka Amp Station and took it with some ninja strats, and held off the enemy air by hacking their AA turrets. After things settled down at Dahaka, we decided to move on to Saurva Bio Lab. We took that one with ninja strats too and faced virtually no resistance. Then, BuzzCutPsycho and TE decide to move in and swarm us at the bio lab with about 50 people simultaneously.
We're forced to fall back to Dahaka, at which we staged a massive defense against TE, which succeeded for the most part. TE decided we weren't worth the effort and started attacking NC. We take advantage of this by grabbing whatever TR territory we could, then we joined in a multi-Outfit assault on TE, after which we defended Dahaka again. Unfortunately, we arrived at Dahaka too late, and we were effectively forced out.
[/Pre-Battle Ops]
If you've seen Noobie's screenshot, that's when the real battle started. CoraMed was where we first encountered the TE Liberator spam, then back to Indar Excavation Site. We couldn't do much, so we re-organized at Quartz Ridge Camp with Skyguards, AA MAX's and the AA turrets. TE wasn't able to move in with their Liberators because we shot them all down (they're good at massing them, just not actually piloting them). Then they got real mad. Infantry, Tanks, and Aircraft all converged on us at Quartz Ridge, but even the full might of TE wasn't able to kick our platoon and another Outfit out. After some tense battles and an epic flank on the eastern ridge, we got a bit of a break, but TR were still trickling in.
At this point, NC started taking advantage of our preoccupation with Quartz Ridge, and started back capping us. We couldn't respond though because AOD teamed up with some leftover TR to assault us at Quartz Ridge. AOD provided a much more difficult challenge - they brought Light Assaults up the western ridge, poured infantry over the eastern ridge, and managed to take out the vehicle shield generator that was preventing them from overtaking us. Fortunately, with some well-timed backup, we kicked AOD out of the base, but the battle wasn't quite over.
With our shields restored, we turned our attention to the stream of infantry coming from the western and eastern ridges. They brought in multiple Sunderers, and were being very good at keeping them covered from us, but we struck out on the eastern ridge several times in an attempt to kick them out. It took a while, but we whittled them down and destroyed their Sunderers just as NC was arriving. We decided we weren't having any of that, and politely shoved rockets and bullets up their tailpipes. After dealing with some stragglers and an extra Sundered, the siege was finally broken.
The battle at Quartz Ridge alone probably lasted an hour, and the pre-battle ops also about an hour. But boy, will this be a day I probably won't forget.
