My assumption was the patch required the wipe, not lack of skill on the part of admin.

Well, to be fair.. it was partly admin fault and partly the update/devs fault.
It was partly our fault in a sense, because we never made backups of our database/hive (now we back it up daily).
It was also partly the devs/pwnz0rs fault for making such changes to the database/hive and which wiped the database.
Majority (or lots) of server owners didn't back their DB up, so lots of people experienced the wipe.
No fear, we now back that ass up here.

Looks like they were listening. Interesting ones:
Many changes to Zed behavior and reaction distances
Fixed loot tables (we shall see)
No more puny patrol packs as spawns, with bigger ones possible.
