I think the bigger question is why NOT have it. There are a handful of useful features to VOIP, I can't think of any to not having it.

Our plan is to have VOIP working so there is no need to discuss it further. It is very high on the list.

Direct and Vehicle Voice, yes indeedy. Hearable only within a short distance or within a vehicle. Love it.

Sidechat Voice, NO. That is when ALL on the server can hear you, just like side chat is visible to all. The last thing I wanna hear are some yohos yakking on about their exploits, or being pissed off. Easy though, just make it a bannable offense.

Although i agree with that (almost completely 99%), we have proven that the base we draw and play with for the most part are mature enough not to abuse the privileged of having VOIP, side chat and all.

To me its worth rolling with both if thats whats needed to have direct.

I am also of the opinion that starter gear could be augmented. Loot as well put some new guns in and maybe some crazy cool items. If the loot is different than it can change the dynamic of the server which would be cool. Also I know from some vids that you can scavenge parts off of cars so you can make another ones work. If we had more cars that could be viable I don't know if that's possible with what we have but it would be cool if we could do that. I am also up for any map change though I would prefer Taviana.

I would also like to say this is exactly what we did with BF3. We had an open discussion on what we needed for the server to become active again and we ended up settling on a compromise that allowed the server to have population and regs being able to have a great time again.

Edit: Almost forgot base building sounds cool to.

As for increasing population I believe a new map could help our cause. Seems to be less servers on alternate maps so not as many options for those who play. For the current situation I role with the server settings. I don't think altering them would make any more or less fun. I enjoy it.

I am trying to figure out "if possible" if we would be better off changing maps, adding a map or rotating every 2 weeks to a new map.

    Re: TPG and DayZ

I have still never got the answer of what kind of community we want for our DayZ server. Do we want a massive community or do we only care about our select "regulars" with a few new whitelists here and there? The plain simple truth is that if we do not provide a server with custom loot, new map areas, cool vehicles, donator perks, and an active admin community that is willing to backup lost character data then we are bound to fail. This is not supposed to be a negative/bitching and moaning post, so don't take it that way. We ALL need to man up and see what we have done wrong so far with this server.

We have done tons and tons of things right! So don't get all butthurt at my previous comment, but once again if we are planning on making DayZ a large part of TPG, we need to start getting things right and fast. If we want to do it at our own pace and learn as we go as we have in the past, fine, I'll respect that, I just play games here, but it is my opinion that things will continue to go as they have in the last 5 months if we choose to do that.

I would think that we would want a huge, massive community because that means more growth for TPG, but so far it is only our dedicated "regulars", with a couple whitelisters, that we have been able to keep attracted to the server. And really we are losing our regulars too. That is pretty sad imo. We need to do better in the future and everything we need has been said multiple times by multiple people, we just need to follow through with actions.

If there is a way to not wipe the characters when rotating the map, I think that would be a really cool aspect of our server. But if every 2 weeks you have to start all over again because we rotate the map, that is something lots and lots of players won't like. We have to prevent wiping characters all at costs. No one likes losing their gear to death, but people hate it more when losing their gear to a server issue.

I'll give you some reasons NOT to have it.

Direct Chat: Seriously, what use is this? If you're the average player, you know that anyone not in your group is inevitably hostile, why would you want to talk to someone you know will shoot you? And if you're a bandit, what's to stop someone from ignoring your demand to be robbed? If they get killed, all they have to do is run back to their tent and grab the exact same kit they lost, along with their other 5 copies of it.

Vehicle Chat: Why? We have a Teamspeak, and I'm sure as hell that you don't let people not in your TS channel into your vehicles, so I see little point in having Vehicle Chat.

Now, if you're going to say that we're excluding people not on Teamspeak, then everyone needs to play by the same rules. Either everyone is on Teamspeak, or no one is on it (and using the in-game VOIP). But, seeing as those on high are going to implement it, I'll just rest my case here.
