Re: TPG and DayZ
I agree, I would not want to do it if we cant save the DB's. Now I do believe that the DB's would be stand alone. Meaning, you would have what you had the last time you played the map, not you would have what you had from Chernarus to Panthera. Swapping loot from map to map is an issue. Not saying it can't be done but I have trouble with visualizing how it would be done any other way than manually which would be very time consuming. You can't just copy a DB from one may to the other do to worldspace locations, not that I know of anyway.
Great ideas everyone, keep them coming and lets keep this positive. We want what you want.

Personally, I'm fine if it is not feasible to transfer gear from map to map as long as what you described is true; we keep different DB saved from each map. I might actually prefer it that way because it will keep it exciting, while still saving your progress in each map. Where's the fun in trying out a new map if you are already super geared from the get go?

A new map every month or so sounds good - not that I've played any of the suggestions. As a new player on the server I'd say that anything that'll increase the 'unknown' element for players as much as possible is sure to add to the quality of play. What makes DayZ so great is the feeling of fighting for survival in hostile territory imho. More custom loot would be cool.

Re: TPG and DayZ
Advertising / events, creating a story and making it somewhere different. Maybe have admins do random events (Hop online and give coords to a new prize to be claimed), custom loot is great too!
Advertising & Events
This was key to BMRF's rise to success, they really hit the nail on the head. They used Reddit and other sources to attract players, they made an event that entertained many of our players too. The advertising is constant, using social media they increased their Day Z / Arma 2 playerbase to over 700% (Guesstimation) of ours. Update people via emails, twitter etc. Actually as a side note you can tweet them that theres a hacker online and they'll fix it for you asap. Same with whitelisting, it took a stunning 6 minutes for me to be whitelisted when I was there.
Create a story
Map rotations are cool, forcing new maps may make or break though. Each map has it's own setup quirks. Events and storylines can help players feel more into the game. Say 1 night the admins join and say "We have a chopper and we are guarding it at the NWA" in global chat. They can also spawn in custom loot drops as rewards and incentives to force encounters on low pop nights. Those stories get out and soon we have more playing often to get in on those moments.
The other obvious things are in the works or have been mentioned already, so those are my 2 cents.

Re: TPG and DayZ
Yah I don't know if we want to be switching maps all the time. For right now we should just keep one map and change it later down the line when we have another case of the worn out map syndrome.
Events are awesome as well. The whole reason i started playing full force again was because of the defense of Elektro event we had it was so much fun and I would love to do that again. Weekly events would be preferable maybe we can turn DayZ Thursdays into event night.Last edited by SourceSkills; 03-01-13 at 11:19 PM.
