Recommended Hardware for smooth game play?

I liked the game a lot but my rig couldn't handle it. What minimum GPU/CPU does a person need to play this game smooth and effectively.
    My rig: three times baked 8800 gt and a 3.71 oc'd e6850.
    I am looking at getting a 7850.
Did I say that or was I just thinking it?

Well unfortunately this game takes a lot of both. On the plus side(for you) this game is currently only has 2 main threads so a dual core cpu like yours is not too bad for the game. The 8800gt is definitely holding you back. I had one of them and that card made bf2 run half way crappy back in the day. I currently have a 5870 and at max settings except for shadows and slider at 80% i get between 58 to 90 fps at a resolution of 1920X1200. Varys greatly on if im in the middle of a shit storm or not. So with all that said a 7850 will be a huge improvement for you in this game. O to mention my processor is an i5-2500K overclocked to 4.0 normally but I had it up to 4.5 but the FPS barely improved as I am GPU limited most of the time.

He'll only be able to run the game though. Now, if he wants to also be in TS3/vent/mumble, he might want to get a newer processor.

I was hoping the q9650 would have come down in price by now but it is still going for around 250-300. I can't believe people are still paying that much with the new tech that is out. I just can't afford a new CPU, MB, RAM, and GPU...sigh.
