I don't play enough to say what is the "right way" for TPG, but I think even within our group of regulars you would get a wide variety of answers. Some people play for the survival, some for the PVP, some for the community nature, and others just because they have nothing better to do. If player A is playing for PVP they probably prefer having more players on the server so they have more targets to choose from, while the survivors are fine with smaller numbers. No matter what settings we implement some of our most active regulars are going to want something different. The question is what is best for TPG? Not what brings the most players, but what allows the most teamplayers to have the most fun?

And proof of my point. I am not agreeing or disagreeing with Kraker, but some players will say that these things are NBD, while die hards like Trigger and Kraker think you might as well be giving away a tactical nuke too. So where is the middle ground that is "right" for us?

DayZ Panthera Map - DayZDB
All I have to do is go there... and now I know every single place on the map that I can find a map.
DayZ Panthera Map - DayZDB
Now I know where I can find ghille suits...
And I know the spawn rates. And I also know that spawn rotation is roughly 10 minutes (if I remember what I read a few days ago) so if I ransack the place I can come back around and check again.
It's not a matter of will you ever find a map or ghille... it's when.

Just because we know the type of loot we can find at certain locations doesn't mean it will be there. I can't tell you the number of times I've looked for a ghillie in high yield residentials and never found one. Or a map. Or a compass. Or an AS-50 at the choppers. My point being, just because we know something spawns at a location, doesn't mean it will. This game is the biggest troll out there, and once it senses you need something, it will do everything in its power to keep it from you. Or that's how it seems at times.

less than 1% actually. Each. But down that one road there's well over 100 spots. So at least ONE of them will have something. If not on the first pass, then certainly on the second or third.

Re: Very interesting read on Reddit right now...
If you want to spawn in with gear and be ready to go, then the game is just for PVP. The survival aspect of the game is looking for stuff. Not everyone can play 8 hours a day, sometimes you get that 1 hour, and in that hour, you can look and not find a thing, so the game continues to be challenging the next day...
