Arma Hijinks!
So, not quite a DayZ event, but Arma so close enough and I wanted to tell about our adventures.
So a warparty composed of Max, Warprosper, JP, DAVID(GEN), Howitzer, Salty and I decided to try out some of the other missions that Arma had to offer.
We started out with some Blackhawk Down, rescuing a downed pilot from a hostile city. We were inserted by twin littlebirds outside of the suburbs, and after some confusion as to when it is safe to jump out of a flying vehicle(When the vehicle is no longer flying Max), we fought our way into town. Setting incendiaries on the downed blackhawk and moving into town we bogged down into the market square, fighting off waves of insurgents. War located the Pilot, but in a hail of gunfire our fireteam was cruelly gunned down on the verge of trying to extract(also due to a long lag spike).
Our next mission involved a Opium Shipment and a Crooked UN officer trading weapons. We moved in on airdropped in two Humvees, and quickly learned that coming into a fortified town without looking is a bad idea. As Howitzer's car quickly exploded. Max attempted to join in with some A-10 support.....and crashed. We decided to restart and had better luck. Searching and clearing three small villages filled with insurgent forces, fighting off the enemy AA truck and RPG technicals. Max provided cover fire from the hills, his scoped rifle taking down insurgents left and right as we fought our way through the close quarters of the walled compounds. Howie and Salty providing fearless medical services, reviving and healing members of our fireteam as we found and destroyed the weapons and ammo shipments. Executing the UN officer as he tried to flee the scene. We left the mission area in two cars, trying to make it back to the base for a job well done, dodging insurgent ambushes and RPG fire. We drive into the sunrise, the airfield in sight when we learn that Max has appropriated the Chinook from the Airbase, and promptly crashes it into us.
Our third mission was an Insurgency mission, the enemy weapons cache has been hidden away somewhere in Takistan and we were tasked with finding Intel and destroying it. After some playing around on base, we approached an enemy held town, inserting by Chinook and taking up overwatch positions. We set up a mortar to provide fire support, as Max lays down a withering field of fire with his LMG. The rest of us moved into town, finding intel that will lead us to the ammo cache. The rest of the mission was distracted with trying to fix some issues and get more people in, but eventually we did finally insert by blackhawk and destroy the cache. Good job everyone.
Anyways, I had a really great night, thanks guys! And I think it showed some people who have only really experienced DayZ that Arma has a lot more to give.maximusboomus liked this post

Re: Arma Hijinks!
The last two nights that we have had these have been so fun, even with the small amount of people that end up joining us. So far I have got to say that the Escape Chernarus mission, which I first played tonight, has got to be the funnest one that we have played yet. Sadly, tonight I was only was only able to play for an hour or two, damn school work. To say the least I am looking forward to the next time we do this, I hope that'll be next weekend.
I'd love to see more people show up for this I can only imagine how fun it could be with more people.
This would be prefect for those of you that love team work, exactly what we as a community try to focus on in the video games that are hosted by TPG. So you guys and gals that loved BF2 Project Reality you would love this just as much.
Also those of you that love the PVP that we have seen in DayZ and Wasteland this would be perfect because unlike in DayZ and Wasteland, where you wonder around looking for a fight, in the missions almost 100% of the time the point of this mission will get you into multiple firefights.
I encourage all of to at least give this a try. I would almost be willing to bet that you all would love this.
Who knows this could be the next big thing for TPG but we can't make any head way with it if there is no support. So like I said before just give it a try. I can't help it but think of the possibilities, if you are wondering what they could be just youtube search ShackTac.

Re: Arma Hijinks!
In addition to the escape Chernarus mission, we also rescued the President's daughter from hordes of zombies in Zagrabad. Well, David rescued her, Howie and I may have burned ourselves alive on the flaming wreck of an overturned car.
But yeah, I think that the Escape mission was excellent, people want their roving death squads in DayZ, well there are roving death squads in the escape mission...that home in on you if they radio in your location, and will call in SPG trucks, APCs and Choppers on up in their hunt for you.
Anyways, I'm planning on doing another SST Open House for Arma at the end of the week, Friday or Saturday depending on schedule.maximusboomus liked this post

Re: Arma Hijinks!
I think this should be a weekly thing
Depending if we could get people to actually show up. I know I'll do it as much at real life will allow me.
I would love to do something on a bigger scale like what ShackTac does. I have even thought of sending an application their way.
I can only imagine how it could help the community grow if we could get a server that can handle more than eight people at a time. The server doesn't even have to run the game all the time just set it up for like a day or two a week depending on when we could get the most people involved. Maybe get some people to capture their game play and throw it up on the YouTube with all the information for the website and then we would get even more people to join us.
