Post your tips and tricks about the standalone.

- I just found out that if you find a spare T-shirt or a pair of jeans you can tear them to make rags,and if injured you can use those instead of bandages ( And can only be found inside of medical boxes)which are pretty rare to find. Ensure it's on the ground, scroll over it and select shred.
- Loot spawns only when server restarts,so if somene already have looted the building you are left ...well with leftovers
- You can carry 1 melee weapon and a rifle on your back.
- Sleep=Just eat and drink and that will take care of it for you.
- Torches . You need to "raise your weapon". Check your keybinds.

Tips:
-Go into the game with a calm and cool demeanor. It is alpha and not everything works. If you accept this you can have fun.
-Loot spawns are not at all like the mod. Search on objects, under beds, etc.
-If stuff is damaged, it won't work. I spent 30 minutes trying to get my damn compass to work only to realize it was damaged.
-I would avoid humans at all cost. The zombies are broken and people are going to get bored quickly. If you want to survive going lone wolf or working with people you know is the only way to survive.
-You can refill the water bottles and canteens. The water bottle seems to work even when it is 'worn'.
-This is alpha, not everything works. Stay calm, and enjoy exploring.

Merrit taught me a really good tip today to prevent always having to drink or eat something. Whenever you are in a town with a water well,



take the time and drink from that well until your body says it can't take anymore(the written indicator at the body left of your in-game screen). You can either drink right from the well or fill up your canteen or water bottle and drink from that multiple times. Rinse and repeat. Merrit thinks drinking from your canteen or water bottle, instead of straight from the well, fills you up faster. Along side drinking you can do the same trick with food.

It might take a couple minutes to be honest, but I did it today with Merrit for a good 5-8 minutes. Just constantly drinking from the well and also ate everything I found in the town I was in. Never got the message that I was full or couldn't drink anymore, but doing this will enable you to run a lot further without having your body tell you that you need to eat or drink.

As a thought this aspect of the game is something I hope they continue to work on. It might be a little to realistic for my liking. Not saying I can't live with it, but it does annoy me that if I don't do this trick/tip in every town I enter, I'm constantly being told that my body is hungry or thirsty. I know you can ignore it for a good while before really having to eat or drink, though I much rather have the symbol indicators of old DayZ.

My tamagochi can't make it from one town to the next without crying about being thirsty, even with filling up from a well first. Carry 2 water bottles at least. As far as food goes uncooked rice seems to be the absolute best for keeping hunger at bay. Rebind your turbo too, faster running especially with no gun in your hand.

How long do you fill up from the well? Like I said at this stage of the game drinking ONE entire water bottle isn't going to fill you up. You have to spend a good 5 minutes drinking until you explode. Merrit says you will get an indicator before long that says you can't hold any more fluid.

Two questions;

1. I disconnect and come back later to a different public server. Sometimes I spawn with no gear at the shore. Is everyone experiencing this discontinuity of persistent gear ?

2. When I respawn, the text on the left hand side looks like it is going through the motions, but my screen just says please wait, and I never respawn. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Overall, I love it. I want the zombie count to go up, and the mechanics of the game to improve, but I spent a lot of time playing today, and I love it !

Also I can't Get My bindings to save...

^ I never had that problem before,that is a weird one thou!
Key bindings are almost the same from the mod and i did not feel the need to change them because i was already used to it.
They could give some other players troubles,and if i remember there was a thread on the forums how to bind them in your ini.file i just can't find the link atm.

- Poor framerate? Go to Documents > DayZ and open DayZ.cfg in Notepad. ChangeGPU_MaxFramesAhead and GPU_DetectedFramesAhead to = 1.
- Holding Alt locks the direction of your movement, allowing you to look around while running without changing direction.
