I am rather fond of not owning a console.
I was explaining Dayz to an Xbox COD Zombie player the other day. He was amazed. Then it clicked, I could see it in his eyes, "Oh, you play Dayz on a PC?" Lulz.
Just try to play some of the PC games on a Console, just try.....

Re: Xbox One
E3 Xbox One got thrashed. I believe Sony led Microsoft believe they were going to adopt DRM, share same price tag, require motion sensor. However I think they changed just before the reveal to bury Microsoft. It worked in many consumer's eyes including me. There was no way I could justify buying a Microsoft with all the restrictions and paying $100 more.
However once they announced they were dropping the DRM, Online Check In, and Allowed disabling of the Spy Device (paranoia!) all that was left was the $100 price tag. Which to me is not a deal breaker. If I had bought a PS4, i would of had to buy an adapter to use an Xbox controller as I need the left thumbstick above the d-pad not below like PS. So that would have cut into the $100. Also I have a 7-8 yr old Xbox account with my gamer tag/achievements. I had nothing with Sony.
So Microsoft brought me back. However if they decide to implement these things later in the console's life, I will be done with them for good.I never miss. I simply fire warning shots.

Re: Xbox One
That's not the point though. There are still CRT HD TV's....and people have older LCD HD TV's that only have component video inputs. I think that the XBOX One and PS4 will only offer HDMI outputs. Not that I really care, I gave up on consoles in 1999. I guess I'd take one if someone gave it to me, though.

Re: Xbox One
The only real reason for the price difference I can see is because Microsoft is packaging the new Kinect with the Xbox One. The PS4 doesn't package their own motion device. Take away the Kinect and the Xbox One is roughly the same value as the PS4, with roughly the same price tag.
Personally, I'll be getting an Xbox simply because I've always enjoyed their systems better, and liked their exclusives better as well (though I saw a rumor that Final Fantasy will be going back to a PS exclusive, which will suck because so far I've bought and failed to beat every Final Fantasy since 7, and probably won't buy a PS4 just for the next one).
I really don't think Microsoft gives a shit about people with CRTs lol. Nor does pretty much anyone else. The only CRT I own is one that Hocus gave me several years ago before he moved to Texas because he couldn't fit it in his car lol.
I think Xbox One and PS4 will likely offer a component input, if for no other reason than that even newer TVs support component cables (bought myself a 37" LCD for Christmas and use components to hook up my current gen systems). That being said....components tend to be going the way of RF and AV cables before them.
