Re: 360 or PS3?
You can listen to opinions all you like, but it would help if we knew what you were looking to use it for. FPS, sports, media, etc... That would help narrow it down I think.
PS3 is more suited for sports, media, and racing.
360 is more suited for FPS, online gameplay, and.... well I have to say online capabilities again. They beat PSN out of the water.
Both are good for action games...
I actually prefer the PS3, but thats just a matter of taste.

Re: 360 or PS3?
thanks for the info everyone.
I went with the 360. I primarily play shooters, i dont play many sports, racing or fighting games.
The Kinect is pretty awesome btw, definitely better than either other system. I dont want to exercise when Im playing videogames, so that really wasnt an issue. The libraries also fit with the things i wanted to play, and i have a bunch of old xbox games that i can play again.
I will probably get a PS3 at some point unless their is a PS4 coming out in 18-24 months. =D

I have a 360, and its not a bad choice for $200. Like what most people said, it all depends what you want to do. Both are basically the same as far as gaming. Most games are crossplatform so it doesn't really matter. Online community is better for the xbox imo, but at a cost. $50 a year isn't a huge deal. The only things I use my xbox for is black ops, and netflix. I chose xbox because that's what the majority of my friends have. If they all had ps3's, I would have bought that.

Re: 360 or PS3?
RROD for 360 is a thing of the past. Even if you were going to buy an original refurbished XBOX360 from amazon or somewhere, they have all already been replaced with a different motherboard. If I remember correctly... if the XBOX has HDMI youre good to go. I bought a 20GB refurb XBOX360 from amazon over a year ago and its still running fine.

Re: 360 or PS3?
Most games are across both platforms, but the graphics looks better on PS3 for sports, racing, etc... and using/dling media is easier. 360 has a better online experience so FPS (the largest online genre I would say) is better on 360.
I tried to stray away from personal taste and look at what people mainly get each system for.
