Just d/led the game last nite but havent been able to mess with the server settings. From what I was reading though specing is a little weird to begin with. It looks like they break it into groups of who youre specing and talking to at that time. Maybe Im wrong, but I would think it would work just like every other mp game Valve has... Chat with all specs, talk to just your team. Just cant find the right cvar combo to make this so.

Yeah some times I could spec the enemy and sometimes not. Never figured the pattern out.

The way I perceive it its kind of like cycling through the different views in spec. Hit Jump to go inbetween 1st person, 3rd person, and free look. Same thing with teams that you have to hit X button to go between teams and then left click to cycle through players on that team.

If thats the case, I can kind of understand where theyre going with it since sometimes it was a pain to fast-cycle through players to find who you wanted, filtering it to teams makes it easier though it is turning into more of a pain tbh.

One thing I think I figured out is now mouse wheel changes from first to third person. I am always stuck speccing the opposite team, and do not know how to change that. Space bar doesn't seem to do anything anymore.

I think he means X as in "insert key here", not as in press the X key, but I could be wrong.
