    these new maps are awesome
    I broadcast gaming videos on Twitch TV and my finished videos are on YouTube! Recently I shoutcasted the Counter Strike Tournament at PAX Prime 2012!

    de_alexandra is a pretty bad map to be honest. Majority of the players in the server also hated it. CT and T spawn only has a bridge that sets the gap between it.

    There are way too many ways to get into each site. It's really a cluster of a map, with very little effort put into it.

    I encourage whoever is suggesting the maps/putting the maps into the server to take a look at two other maps I suggested in this thread.

    Alexandra could be interesting if the spawns were farther apart as mentioned, and we had some names for the paths.
    Aurelia is a good map, but seems to be pretty unpopular so far. It's pretty straightforward though and has some great opportunities for T fakes/delays.
    Cambodia.. just.. ugh. Terrible map IMO.

    I enjoyed Alexandria. I agree that it's weird how close the spawns are to each other.

    alexandra and aurelia are made by the same person... Both have almost the same number of ways into a site.. have you tried counting them?

    Alexandra-
    B: subway, the building with the windows looking over B, mid doors near B (T spawn)
    A: Mid doors near A, the sand/underpass area, the back double doors in A

    Aurelia-
    B: The main T entrance of the bombsite, the mid doors near B (going through the water), going up the stairs (need to crouch through windows).
    A: Lower, Upper, going towards B and wrapping around to either upper A or CT spawn

    I've only played each once, but so far I'd rather play alexandra over aurelia

    You can't count the stairs to the windows really, you're not gonna send 2-3 people out the window. That's just beyond silly.

    Alexandra:
    A.
    1. Short A passing through CT spawn to back A
    2. Long A.
    3. Long A to sands to A
    4. Mid to A
    B.
    1. Mid to Short B
    2. Long B out windows or tunnels of building.
    3. Spawn to Sewers to B
    4. Mid to Spawn B

    Not to mention the ridiculous amounts of spots you can hide in because the mapper put too much clutter.
    Why does it matter if the map is made by the same person, I don't see how that's relevant at all in fact. A mapper can make one good map, and another that's not good.

    Alexandra was poorly made IMO. Too much clutter and needs less routes to each site.

    Take Dust2 as a perfect example.
    A.
    1. Long A
    2. Short A

    B.
    1. Mid to B
    2. Tunnels to B

    Don't even bring up mid to A as we all know that's a death trap and is never used.

    you are double counting... why count different ways to a site (e.g. mid to A, and same mid to B)? you should be counting the choke points
    and if d2 mid is a death trap, then why aren't the mid routes in alexandra?


    anyways... I still think the map is decent, even though I've only played it once

    I enjoy most of the new maps. Cambodia bieng my favorite one. I am not a big fan of de_alexandra. Mainly because it has way to much clutter and too many routes to bomb sites. I have not played de_aurelia enough to have an opinion on it yet. These maps are a welcome relief.

    There are TWO sets of double doors in mid, both which are choke points.

    Mid to A is a death trap, mid to B is not due to the way the map was designed on Dust 2.

    Either way give it some time. Let people learn the maps a little bit and begin to develop strategies. Regardless, it's probably not going to be removed, the same way maps like de_nighthawk weren't removed from source. Alot of people didn't like it. A decent amount did. It still got played and people had fun with it. We'll probably be pushing out more new maps in the not too distant future but we don't want to "flood" the server with new maps. There will be too many "unknowns" up there and people will feel overwhelmed.
