End of an Era?
All, this is a warning, a hopeful kick in the pants, but something has to change. CS:GO is all but dead, and the only thing keeping it 'alive' is the fact that we have a server running. Counter-Strike has been around since the very ideological though of TPG, and we are about to lose that legacy, unless we do something about that! I am posting this to serve as an announcement to the community, that unless we start to use our CS:GO server, it is going to be shut down, and an era will end in the near future. It is with a heavy heart that I say this, but we need something to change, or it is time to move on, so either get your friends and get fragging the TPG way, or the era of Counter-Strike at TPG is most likely going to end.
(NC-17) Howlin: got plans for me do you?
[TPG] ab1tar: oh yeah
[TPG] ab1tar: youre on my list of ppl to do
(NC-17) Howlin: woh abbi, should you buy me dinner first

Re: End of an Era?
I openly called people out for MM'ing, instead of getting on the server, and I got bashed for it. Regs even said TPG CSGO was "boring" and "people got tired of the rules"...so.
Yes, people can play what they want (MM), however...the flipside of that is a dead server.

Re: End of an Era?
There are a laundry list of things that have lead to the server becoming empty. Enemy #1 being CSGO, #2 match making system.
I sadly think we've seen the end. Aside from having an organized once a month type event where we pull everyone together.
That's going to take drive and organization. Personally i'm focused on Arma 3, so I won't be leading any charge on this one. I'd definitely come out for an event if one was organized.
I think we should atleast have one last hoorah! If it's decided the server is to be shut down.

CS:S was not my first love at TPG, but was probably my longest/greatest. This writing has been on the wall since the release of GO TBH, but it is still a sad day. If there is a last hurrah filled with OGs(I know I don't truly qualify) someone PM me, or hit me up on Steam. I might actually reinstall for that.

It really does suck, counter-strike has always been a staple of TPG gameplay. Battlefield is what kept me busy most nights, but counter-strike is where I'd go on occasion when I'd feel adventurous and be given a quick lesson of where the real PC FPSers hung out.
While lack of priming interest and people playing matchmaking are often blamed, it is really valve that killed it. CSGO and the introduction of Matchmaking evolved the game in a way that split the community, killed off source, and made dedicated servers a thing of the past (for counter strike at least).
It was never my main game here, but the time I spent on the server with others showed me why it was everyone else's main game. Counter-strike isn't what made the server great, it was the teamplayers that made counter-strike great.

So you don't like the truth?
We are fighting a lost cause, so instead of wasting more time, just shut down the server and save everyone here from being forced to play something that has lost it's relevance. "5v5" is directly implemented into CS:GO. You can't fight its popularity. We tried to revive the server multiple times. We tried out a few different things. They didn't work.
You are talking to someone who was brought to this community solely for the reason of the TPG CS:S server. I spent 6-7 hours a day wasting my life priming and administering those servers. Yes I say wasting my life because I sat in a chair in front of a computer screen clicking my mouse, but those memories will stick with me forever. I can now honestly say I enjoy 5v5 more than an 11v11 TPG server. That's just me though. The ease of joining a MM game and the Market system has me wanting to do nothing else in CS:GO. It's no ones fault other than Valves and the direction they chose to take Counter-Strike.
Pub servers have lost their relevance now and will continue to in the future as Counter-Strike continues to gear its gameplay towards 5v5 and competitive play.Last edited by Mr_Blonde_OPS; 01-10-15 at 05:01 AM. Reason: Misquoted.

Re: End of an Era?
If those regs find it boring, and don't like the rules....why were they even here in the first place? You guys also bitched to high Heaven about a new server. They went and got a new server (outsourced even) and that still wasn't good enough.
I'm calling it like I see it.

Sorry I should edit that. I never got tired of the rules, in fact I thought we didn't enforce them like we did in Source. Don't get me wrong I saw admins taking out the trash, but the mentality definitely went out the door with the OGs. Like I said this community made several attempts to make a server work. It just didn't.
