There's definitely a place still for a TPG-style server. I play Casual to practice, but Casual has clipping off and all-talk on, which basically makes it impossible for Teamplay. Valve didn't leave any room for a middleground between casual and matchmaking.
I'd love to see a TPG server back up and running. I can't promise I'll be able to prime all the time, but I'd play when I'm available.

Re: Reinstate CS,GO server
Well, if people actually play... as Kanati said, people just stopped playing, so we stopped wasting our money to pay for hosting an empty server. If people want to play TPG, then people have to play on our server, but several of us got tired of pulling teeth to get people to actually join the server (who would promptly drop and go play MM 90% of the time)

In the "good ol' days" people would sit on a TTP server for hours playing 1v1 or 2v2 until some rando stopped by. After months of doing this priming then the servers eventually went on auto-pilot and as soon as 3-4 people joined it would fill up. We are now in the era of "I want it now". Why would anyone choose to spend hours hoping to play a game when they can have a virtually instant 5v5 with players of similar skill? Not saying I agree with the line of thought, just stating how things are in reality as opposed to the ideal world that if we prop up a server and put TPG on it then it will be full automagically.

Re: Reinstate CS,GO server
Also, these days people don't look for our play style in community servers. So, basically no random connects from anyone with our mentality, they all play Match Making, because why not it is there for them right?

Was waiting for this.
Where are those TPGers now? Dont see them anymore to be honest, so since they arent here now, I dont give a fuck about 10 years ago when the game was completely different. You dont know what the fuck you are talking about and I know this because you dont play CS:GO. You have no idea what road this game has taken and on top of that you are still stubborn to think this community has the regular population to support this kind of server. We dont.
It has nothing to with, "I want it now so im not willing to prime a community server for hours on end." It has to do with the fact that 5v5 is 100x more teamplay oriented than our server ever was. 11v11 cluster fuck can never compete with 5v5. Back in Source at least we could pitch that we were the competitive, team-oriented, server...and there was nothing like us unless you played in a CEVO or CAL league. Well guess what, now it's all about CEVO, ESEA, FACEIT, ESL COLOGNE, KATOWIE. Counter-Strike is a competitive powerhouse now. 5v5 is the most popular way to play the game so while it would be fun to play on a TPG server for a game or two, players will always go to Match Making to fill their time.
Guch said he wants to try to revive the TPG server and there are a few others willing to help. Awesome. But we've been through this before. We are wasting our time.

Yes because 5v5 and competition never existed in CS prior to the launch of GO. How did I miss that fact? Carry on with your salt and vinegar son.
Edit - Oh, and I will add this isn't the ONLY issue, just saying it is the most pressing.Guyver liked this post

You two obviously can't read or play CS.

Look I have no negative feelings on this matter. But we are wasting our time here. You are trying to bring something back that is long gone. Not only are we out-matched with MM, but we simply don't have the community to pull this off anymore. It sucks, I agree, but it's the truth. 1-5 people willing to prime a server is not going to cut it. We've been here before.Last edited by Mr_Blonde_OPS; 09-07-15 at 06:04 PM.
