The gameplay isn't broken, its the map style that is broken. CS maps need to be more like Havana, all the T's spawn in the building, and the CT's spawn around the building. CS maps should feel like a police raid, but also should have the ability to split the CT team up as much as the T's split on DE maps.

Then there's the issue that most CS maps spawn the hostages in the same room. Which is stupid as crap. Spread them out, make saving them the objective, not killing the T's.

When I play any CS map, I first want to kill T's not save the hostages. That removes my need for calls, it removes the need to split the team. CS maps are, you go to point A then to point B killing all the T's. De maps are you go to point A OR you go to point B and kill the T's. That allows a shift in momentum. CS maps are all push push push, there's no defend as the push team. Which in turn make the CT's work less as hard as the T's do on DE maps.

I disagree, maps like siege, estate, and even backalley were deathtraps for CT's

    Re: Maps we don't need!

I think if anyone has any custom map ideas they should make a thread about them. Get some pictures, explain it a little and see what kind of reaction it gets. Custom maps can be loads of fun, we'll test it out and see what the timing is like for both teams to get to site/choke points and maybe get it on to the server if it holds up.

I partialy agree with Adretheon in regards to our regs being a little nutless, however there are plenty of us more than willing and wanting to play maps like dust/aztec/fire/etc. The problem is more often than not we don't have anyone on the server at that time that knows complex/crafty calls. I think dust is an awsome map, but when people wuss out then they don't move around much and Ts give up a lot of ground making it easy for CT to pick them off.

To everyone who comes into these forums I suggest this:

Nominate maps every single time your in game to a map that is less frequently played. It isn't too often that we get enough people acutally nominating good/less frequently played maps. And I don't mean 1 or 2 nominations, fill it up so that there aren't any regular played maps available to choose from. Also, if you're going to nominate a map that isn't played as often, you should be going T and unless someone else wants to call then you should be calling for what you've nominated. Regardless of how simple the calls are, learn the map and then call splits or something more complicated than straight A/B/Mid.

Lastly I would like to say this. Ocassionaly I'll see people saying "It was better in the OG days". The "OG days" sound like TPG clans were the main populace of the server that kept things in order. Why not go into your respective clan forums and try and organize a time for a bunch of your members to be in game. I know it can be hard to balance with every day life but it would make TPG look better and games more fun. Nominate a map you guys want to play - go objective side - communicate - have fun. If teams need to be balanced than so be it, represent the server the way you think it should be seen by outside players.

Its those of us that read/contribute to these threads that have to take it upon ourselves to make this place a better place to game.

    Re: Maps we don't need!

I'm not saying all the new regs are, but yes there are a bunch that need to man up and play new maps. I mean we played 2 rounds of frost, a map that used to be in regular rotation about a year ago, and it was rtv'd.

And my OG comment has nothing to do with clans(I'm sure some are, but mine is not). They were just a different breed of Reg. I got most of my skill from playing with those guys, I got my attitude from Bigdog, Jeff, and Smoken. They were hard asses that got the job done. Most Regs now, if put on Bigdogs team, would probably get banned. I know this cause I've seen the way some of our newer regs act towards callers like Ab1tar who get very passionate about the game. Who calls it and expects perfection, and when people fuck up, they get yelled at they get called names, and most of our new regs can't handle that. They mock and laugh at the caller for getting pissed(which he has every right to be cause honestly, its hard to fuck up a lot of the calls we make if you actually listen to the caller). If they did that to Bigdog(who is 10x worse than abby about it) they'd find themselves in the banned forums cause he didn't take shit. Cause doing that they are lowering the moral of the team, they're putting doubt in the players minds about the caller, and in doing that the calls aren't executed properly cause the player thinks they know better than the caller.

Which is another thing some of the new regs are terrible about, and that's respect. I've played with the same people here for 6-7 years, so if I say something over the mic about changing a call, or fixing a problem...then people should listen, not say "That'll never work" "You can't rush every player into _____" when I've sen it work every game on that situation for the entirety of my stay here.

    Ok end rant haha

So then why aren't they banned? Is bigdog the only admin that can ban asshats? Last I checked there were quite a few admins who had the exact same powers in the server as bigdog. If you are an admin, and you are witnessing these things, and yet doing nothing about it then you are as much a part of the problem as the player that is being a douche, if not more.

    Re: Maps we don't need!

Ok, this is just my view of things, with me not being a big CSS player, when I started playing TPG CSS about a year and a half ago it was scary, I thought I was going to be banned every time I joined the server, not because I'm a horrible griefer who flaunts teamplay and calls, but because when I was playing on the server people were getting banned regularly for not following the calls/teamplay, like I came from BC2 which is a whole different teamplay world, in my eyes, BF2 and CSS were the teamplay holy grail at TPG held up above all(I got the same omg I'm going to be banned feeling on BF2) calls were called and you followed them to the letter, if you stopped on a rush, or anything like that, you got admin warned, and if you continued you were banned, and I remember playing and seeing people banned every map for stuff like that, there was just this feeling that if you didn't follow the call you would be out of there in only a couple of rounds. I don't know maybe it's just because I was newer to TPG at that point but that's what it felt like to me. I hop onto the server now, and if there is even a admin on you rarely see a warning about call following, and even then it's usually a generic T's follow the call thing, never something like "Jude, don't stop on rushes or you will be banned." I just feel like the feeling that you'll actually get punished if you don't exactly follow the call is gone, even more so with the less personal warnings. Now, like I've said I may be completely offbase as I don't play much nowadays, and maybe I just get bad times with no admins online(shouldn't exist) but that's my view.

PS: I miss Port that map rocked, even more so with all the people banned for sniping from I think it was A site when the bomb was planted at B.

I hate cbbl though, even though it could be fun.

This seems like a good idea. Sounds really fun. Any map devs out there willing to modify/create a map with such a feature?

    Re: Maps we don't need!

Maps like frost, navarro, sewer etc... kick ass when the server isn't full of high school kids on summer vacation trying to rtv to dust2 for the 20th time that day.

I would recommend getting rid of cbble (and just leaving forge) and getting rid of strike (and just leaving mirage). Both new maps are clear upgrades over the old maps in terms of teamplay so why bother with the old stuff? People will get used to the new name (and the old map layout that they already know, tweaked to remove the worst bottlenecks and map bugs).
