Ya know, Teamplay. I think we've heard of that around here.
I know what Teamplay is, thank you. You think I might of picked it up after the 4 years that I've been here. As I've said numerous times, I'm still learning this game.

Definition of Teamplay is different in different games. In BF, I find it totally acceptable to let a critically injured team mate to duck out of a rush to heal himself. It's not that big of a deal, because the team is bigger, and it's not as easy to die in BF as it is in CS:S. One guy doesn't always make or break a rush to take a flag. Not that we rush much in BF, but sometimes we do. In fact, it works better that way sometimes. By the time he gets back to us all the enemies are too busy trying to kill the rest of us to notice one guy come in the way we did, putting him in a perfect position for some flanking action.

That's how I saw it when I got flashed. But now thanks to this thread, I know that's not how you're supposed to do it, so I'm automatically going to default to the next best thing, which is to just get in there and make myself the biggest target I can.

    See! Learning!

Thank you for telling me these things here, rather then having to yell at me about it in game. I hate getting yelled at in game for something that I didn't know was wrong.

The teamplay comment was just a general smart ass remark...not directed at anyone in particular. I know you know what teamplay is. You've been here quite a bit longer than me so if you didn't you wouldn't be here still. The only portion of what I said that was directed at you was the first block/sentence. Probably should have clarified that

Ah. You know, I figured that, but I felt the need to defend myself just in case.

Sorry for kind of biting your head off for no reason then.

But still, Thank you for telling me all that.

Then, once the enemy is killing their team mates they come out and kill the enemy or at least have a better chance to.

Example of NOT Baiting: A player is rushing with his/her team and is leading the rush when they get spammed with enemy/friendly flash grenades. This player knows the map well enough to menouver out of the way of his/her fellow teammates and does so. (Had he/she rushed in he would have just been dead or atleast blind out of his mind.) After he is able to see his/her screen again, if his team has taken out the site or is still fighting for it he/she rushes in to help the team without hesitation. However, if the team has clearly lost the site, the player would be smart in realizing that rushing in may not be the best option but certainly is one. Another viable options consists of slowly making way into the site and proceeding with their as told to or if this player is the only one alive at the time, making the best attempt to win the round by achieving the objective.
Hey man I like your example using someone taking cover waiting for enemies' crosshairs to move away from them, but I'd say as long as you peek to shoot when you hear enemies firing at your team, you're in the clear from persecution. It's teamwork, plain and simple, regardless of communication.

Also, in an ideal rush, the first guy would run straight and distract the enemies with cover fire, thus catching their aim from the choke point. The rest of the team runs in and cleans up the distracted defenders. Perfect site take. And yeah, you could even call that baiting with a certain perspective.

Baiting to me is when a nonteamplayer waits behind the corner of the first major choke point (Example: Someone chooses not to rush straight in long A at d2, instead waiting behind the door or box). This player baits his team to get the 'trash collector kills'.

As far as slowplays go, that's probably where people come up with the loose definition of baiting. You feel like waiting outside B Tunnels at d2 while your teammate goes inside the tunnels. Suddenly your teammate has no one watching his back, and he thinks you're an asshole for it. If you're not doing what you can to help your teammate in a territory that is being controlled by your team, you're a dick. Give him some cover. Create a crossfire. Watch his back. If he goes to peek enemy controlled territory then that's his own risk.

Words are only limited to the effable, while the indescribable is merely found within ourselves.

No problems. I just re-read it and it does indeed look like a jab at you. Sometimes the thought doesn't translate to text all that well.

    @ Sel Gomez

Smoking site and sitting in the site while your team gets annihilated is generally what I would call baiting. You'll get the occasional ninja defuse out of it. You might even get 3-4 kills out of it. It's still selling out your team. Considering that's all I see you do I doubt you'll get away with it for a whole lot longer. Once or twice a map is funny and good for a laugh. After that you start pissing people off.

And before anyone else brings it up -I know Morb does go for the ninja defuse at least once a map(you wont' know who that is OP), but he doesn't sit there the entire map doing it every round(unless it's being incredibly effective, or it's a map like chateau)

You can call it whatever you want, but if you step out of line on a rush I personally call it non-teamplay.

I 2nd Mangos post, and hate with a burning passion when people sit behind the Big box in Long A. Caue I'm the player rushing up long saying "Get pit, Get pit" as I flash and try to kill the guys that can easily kill the pit takers if there's no one there to bullet sponge.

I've been saying this for a long time, but it hasn't quite caught on.....

What Scotzo said. I have seen people start watching the flank before the team even rushes in the site too many times. Some even announce they have the flank before the team reaches the choke point, but if your team doesn't have control of the site, you should not be apart from them. Whole team dies rushing and this person is left alive and alone. There is no guarantee that this extra gun would have helped win the round, but it would definitely help. By watching the flank before your team reaches the choke point, you are essentially baiting them, but this goes unnoticed if they were successful in taking control of the bomb site.
