I got the Orange Box (along with Left 4 Dead, woo!) for the 360 at Christmas. Little did I know I needed a Gold membership to play Team Fortress 2. I caved and got the Gold membership....I've been loving it ever since, especially when I have a game where people know what they hell they are doing! I was going to get TF2 for the PC but they hardly sell on PC were I live.
So to save me $100 (AU) next Christmas, is it worth getting it on PC? What are the main differences in gameplay, team co-op and class types?BE COOL [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] EAT GLUE!

TF2 is a stellar game, through and through. However, I seldom get to play with people I know, and as a result, don't play it as often as I'd like.
My one qualm with the game is the slowly released added content. The content itself is pure gold; still maintains balanced characters while adding new crap, but the fact that they do it a class at a time leads to a lot of lopsided class selection when they release these things. I'd of rather waited for the 9 classes to be finished, then have people work towards what they wanted. I've unlocked all current gear that's released (though haven't gotten all the achievements), so I've lost some incentive to play. Before, I just played to play.
If I see any of you guys on though, I'd follow.

For hard core team fortress fans - tf2 was a major letdown. When tf2 came out, it split the team fortress community, some stayed with team fortress classic, some went to fortress forever and some went to tf2. But the majority of the people that play tf2 are new to the team fortress scene, so they dont really understand "what" team fortress is all about.
My personal opinion, Fortress Forever is a lot better then tf2 and its free. So if you want a capture the flag, team fortress game, drop tf2 and go with FF.
Since the release of tf2, the valve developers have changed so much, tf2 is far from what a real tf game is supposed to be. And as a result a lot of old school people in the fortress community do not care for it. Sure your going to have old school, hard core fortress players who play tf2. But for the most part, team fortress 2 is not a "real" team fortress game.

All valid points I'm sure (I never really played TF1), but without TF2, Fortress games wouldn't have anywhere near the level of popularity they do now. With almost anything, there have to be varying levels of it. Very few people just dive in at the deep end and start loving something.
Let's use music as an example. Not many people listen to Slayer at 11 and say 'hey, this is really good - I like it!' - They'll probably dip their toe in at the really shallow end with something extremely pop-influenced like Limp Bizkit (please, please PLEASE don't think I'm comparing Limp Bizkit to Slayer), decide they quite like that, then look for bands that are similar. Perhaps someone recommends a band like Korn to them, a band that isn't mainstream, but still has one foot in the 'easily accessible' department and they decide they like that too. From Korn, maybe someone recommends a band like Metallica or Sepultura, and they decide they quite like them too - by now, they've completely outgrown Limp Bizkit and don't even listen to it any more. However, without Limp Bizkit, they would never have taken those first baby steps towards discovering the aforementioned bands.
Basically, everything that has any level of success needs a conduit to the mainstream - something to get Joe Public interested in the genre and perhaps get him to look for other, similar games. Team Fortress 2 is that conduit.
