Reseting the stats

there are all sorts of restrictions we can put on psychostats for minimums for online time, kills, etc. If we made it something huge, like 100 hours.......we'd have MUCH fewer people ranked, and that's no fun.

Mani does remove anyone who doesn't connect in 2 weeks, but people liek that are never a threat to regulars with positive KD's. Since they;ll never get a K-D value high enough to push reg's down.

removing the banned from psychstats is easy for us to do, but we do a lot of things in the backgroud for PS....and when we have to rebuild the database, or move some files around...removing the banned becomes a real mess, something that has to be repeated over and over.

but you know....hey....I'm a fair guy. I know some people. Let me see if they can be swayed (but I'll tell ya, the managers here are real assholes).

Psychostats..

I really think that this should be cleaned up some with some restrictions. Atleast 10hrs of play? Lets get rid of all the one day wonders who played in August got a 7 to 1 k:d and never played again.

Only once someone has played a week or two will he even think of comming to the website and checking out their stats...

I agree JPforfree. At least 5hrs of play I mean come on that is like what either one day of playing or two! Still fixing psychostats seems complicated like BD said. But I like where this topic is going!

Here is a crazy idea, since manistats aren't as detailed as pyscostats and sometimes get reset due to server crashes or human error, why not reset them on a regular basis, like the 1st on the month.

Granted there are pros and cons. And since I am not that good and I could care less about personal stats on a server that is all about team play, this might be a good way to give newer players false hope about breaking into the top10.

putting the cutoff at 10hrs means about 350 players ranked
while 5hrs means about 700 players ranked
If you could add a restriction on last time played as well would be cool, make it 2-3 months.

Really if it can be done why rank people in psychostats if they havent logged in anytime or havent played since August.

For instance the psychostats top10

1.) Ownage.HN has been #1 forever,
he hasnt played since August but he logged in 5hrs. Why should he still be on here?
2.) cÃƒâ€šÃ‚Âº po [VII] hasnt played since November and logged less than 5hrs
3.) -TG- b00m new player, less than 5hrs but played recently
4.)[-CAKE-]B33F played november less than 5hrs (1.5hrs played)
5.) facetard less than 5hrs played (4.5) hasnt played since Sept.
6.) -EE-wolv <music> hasnt played since September but logged in 15hrs
7.) >

) last played in september, less than 5hrs
8.) McNasty last played in Novmeber only about 1hr played

There are tons of guys like this and I dont see why any of this 10 should be ranked. All but 1 havent played sicne November.

No one is asking for a 100hr cuttoff, just make it 5 to 10hrs and a last played of a few months. This way you weed out old players who dont play here anymore.

This would add a little more legitmacy to psychostats.

If those players are removed are they then not scored on your own STATS

?

If thats the case, maybe it isnt a good idea.

that's right. You get points based on the skill of the people that you kill. It's not just how much you kill, but it's who you kill, and who kills you.

If those guys beat your ass......maybe your skill would go up. If you beat their ass.....then your skill would go down when we take them out.

for me.....what's the point of being in the top10 of 700, when you can be in the top 100 or 200 or even the top500 of 15,000?

by a % basis.....either way, you're in the top .5-1% of the people ranked........but it certainly means a HELL of a lot more when it's the top 1% of 15000.

also, nobody wants to play on a server if they aren't rankable. For the most part, people are just going to be turned off, or discouraged seeing that they have no stats and no rank. Yeah, some will perhaps be driven to get ranked.....but 90% or more are going to just find somewhere else they are ranked at, and go from there.

In our current methods, both with mani AND psychostats......the most people get ranked the fastest. In mani, the regulars do better by ranks being K-D, and is psychostats......if you have a good day, or really take out some top skill players......your personal skill points will rise up enough to put you in the top 100-200, which is about all you can hope for. Being in the top 100 itself should be considered being a 99% superior player (though once you figure out what psychostats is really rewarding the most.....taking advantage of that will boost your score the most)

and what's the most interesting.....is that half the people you named, and probably more, JPforFree, are in the BANNED LIST.

Taking those guys out would remove about 50-100 of the top 200 players. At least.
