if bunny hopping was possible, we would be banning for it left and right.
in the days where it was rampant, you could not play on a server that didn't have bunny hoppers....it was part of the game, like pistol-switching, and such.
everyone who wanted to get there faster did it. And everyone wants to do that, so everyone did it.
If it was possible in Source....it would be everywhere. It is not everywhere. It is not possible. I have never, ever seen anyone run faster than me by jumping around like a bunny hopper. Not even once. And I played CS regularly for nearly 2 years.

Re: What is bunny-hopping?
*sigh* Big, I'm telling you. It was about a month ago. I was CT on piranesi on our server. I hadn't even thrown a flash around the corner and I got shot in the face. I switched to spec, and the next round, watched the guy outrun the entire team from T spawn into the bombsite. I warned him, he didn't do it again, and left shortly after.
I know it's not "pure" bunnyhopping, but it is exploiting gravity in the same manner, and does provide a speed boost. You just need a slope, which limits its usefulness to certain maps.

Re: What is bunny-hopping?
I agree that while i may not be the insane speed boosting pure form of bunny hopping we have seen in early versions there is still a trace of bunny hopping in maps. Not long ago we (BIGTEX) were in a scrim waiting for the rest of our opponents to show while one of them was bouncing all over cp_mill. He was faster than normal speed(not crazy fast but enough to be an advantage). We could not keep up with him with our knives pulled chasing him down. Im not sure if we still have the demo available or not.

if it's ramps and planes.......then it's not bunny hopping.
you can call it that....but it only makes you sound like you don't know what you are talking about.
call it plane jumping, or something. But calling it bunny hopping is like calling ESP a wall hack. Similar....sure.....but not the same.

Re: What is bunny-hopping?
I think people call it bunny hopping because the motion looks identical - lots of jumping, turning in the air left and right and strafing.
And if the outcome is the same, moving at an unfair speed....regardless of if it starts on a slope and continues once they hit flat ground, if it walks like a duck and sounds like a duck...its pretty much a duck in my book.
Planejumpers then, are equal to bunnyhoppers in my thesaurus... they both mean douchebag cheater.
