Auto Join vs. Stacking
There was a discussion, well more of an argument, on the server yesterday between some regulars on the server about team stacking. They were told to take it to the forums, but I didn't see anyone do that. So, since I had an opinion on the subject that I didn't voice at the time, I am posting it now. Feel free to flame me afterwards if you disagree with me. I can take it....
I have always been of the opinion that you should play the side of a map that you like. However, that can lead to horribly unbalanced teams on certain maps. Also a lot of people like to play with their friends. This is understandable also. BUT! On a community server such as this, where everyone likes to keep the play fair and tries to maintain the community atmosphere, I think the general rule of thumb when you join the server should be using the "auto join" option, so you get put where you're needed by the server.
We had 14 on 11 yesterday because people wanted to be with certain other people. After 2 rounds the server balanced the numbers but the teams were out of wack because a bunch of the better players all joined the same team.
I know nothing will truly even out the teams other than a balancing mod, but SOME of the problem could be solved by players not all trying to get on the team with the top kill getters all the time.
I pick auto join whenever I join the TTP server, nobody else needs to, but it would be a nice show of community courtesy to those hoping for a more balanced game.
Course I could be full of crap, and this could be a long rambling that doesn't have a shred of usefulness in it.... but it was fun to write.Rumble

Re: Auto Join vs. Stacking
I auto, every time. If it auto's me to the winning team (if they're winning by a bunch), I usually swap to help balance.
Honestly, I prefer even games, they're more fun. But then you get into the arguments of "sided" maps and of clanmates wanting to play together and of counter-stacking just to toss the game the other direction and...and...and...and...
Hence why I usually auto assign.

Re: Auto Join vs. Stacking
well yesterday i saw scuba come one on our team while we were winning. i don't see the problem because there was 3 killers on the other team. and then hero started going insane about it and wouldn't stop. which i think is funny because i see people stacking all the time and i've never seen someone go that nuts which leads me to believe there is a personal issue. and he didn't just tell him not to stack he was harassing him for several rounds so i went to his defence. i was totally surprised to see a killer act so. i thought it was agreed upon in previous threads that if your a losing team you could use awps and auto which balances it out. so i didn't really see the need for the lengthy bombardment of insults.

But if the teams are evened with regs and talent. I'll stay on T-side because flat out, ct's are getting theirs asses whipped because they are lazy teamplayers. And lazy teamplayers, are the ones i have no sympathy for...

Re: Auto Join vs. Stacking
It was me and disposable who were argueing on the server , it was on inferno and the ct's were winning 6-3, 2 or 3 killers were on t and toker was on ct, I connected to ct because my clanmates were on ct and then switch toker (another killer) over to t side. Dsposable went completley apeshit over nothing - guess how the map finished 14-14 "

Re: Auto Join vs. Stacking
Sometimes there is legitimate team stacking, but the majority of the time people are pissed because they are losing so they bitch about the teams.
As for other people (who shall remain nameless), they dont like the fact that other players dont play the same way they do, so they bitch, curse, then call you a pussy. Pay no mind to them, that's the way cs is sometimes.

Re: Auto Join vs. Stacking
Auto-join has nothing do with balancing skill sets per team.....and thus serves no pupose in balancing said teams.
teamlimits are in place on all our game servers. They might take time to implement (swap players), such as in BF2, 2142, and now INS......but they are there and they are functioning.

In most games(BF2 and CS:S are the ones i mainly play now) I try to join a team with people i know or have fun playing with, i'm not playing to get a great score or be on the hard side etc, i wanna play to have fun. and it can be fun being with other people you know you can have fun with.

Re: Auto Join vs. Stacking
It might just be me but most of the time team gets even out with or without admin help to the point of there is only a 5 point different in round win. There will always be some rounds where one side might dominant the other and those can be cause by teamplay, side advantage or just uneven teams and for those you just gotta ride those out.
