Buy your stuff faster, rush faster, win more

In another thread I was reading/participating in, it was brought up that I and several others tend to buy our stuff faster than the majority of the players on the server at any one time. What difference does this make, you may be asking...It can make a lot of difference. That extra 3-4 seconds spent hitting B-5 (oops, meant to hit 4 for rifles - B-4-2 B-6-2 B-6-3 B-6-3 B-6-4 B-6-6 B-6-5 ....that 3 seconds (which doesnt SOUND like a lot) is the difference between me rolling into Bombsite B on Dust2 alone vs with 3 friends to back me up.

I'm a decent shot but most of my advantage comes from getting to choke points faster than the other guy... and most of my deaths come while alone at those choke points with no backup. Sneaky A on Pirinesi, Apartments on Italy, Double doors on Aztec - and the list goes on.

This is a long drawn out way of saying "Get some buy scripts!".

I dont care what anybody says, who calls them lame, who says that people who use them suck, etc... buy scripts - and their ability to get you the stuff you need faster - can get you where you need to be quicker and result in a tactical advantage.

I use them and I love them and I suggest you use them too.

I use a set called kAZ that binds F1 to scroll through a series of pre-set equipment packages. As you press F1 a nice lady's voice announces the name of the pack you have selected. Hit F2 and that pack is yours.

CZ Pack (FAMAS/Galil, armor&helmet, HE Nade, 2x FB, Defuser (if CT))
Scope Pack (SSG552/AUG & All the extras)
Sniper Pack (AWP & Deagle & all the extras)
SMG Pack (MP5 & all the extras)
Standard Pack (M4/AK & all the extras)

You can change any of these in a config file, so if you hate the MP5 you can change it to a P90 - if you dont like the AWP you can change that to a Scout...

And hey, if downloading a buy script and installing it is too hard, CS:S now has the neat feature of remembering kits in the buy GUI.

For example, I hit B-G and get a P90 & all the extras...I hit B-H and get a Pump shotty and all the extras...

To sum it all up, my fingers are slower than most people so to stay competitive and be at the front of a rushing pack, I got some reliable bind scripts. It saves me a ton of effort and will likely help you become a more effective and faster player. I need some backup so I'm trying to help y'all get there for me quicker.

I used to use scripts all the time and its a damn good idea like consultant stated.

I dont anymore, Ive just gotten so quick at buying all the different things its just as quick... but usually from round to round i like to try out different guns. so having them in just 4 or 5 packs isnt enough for me

meh. I buy the old fashioned way, and I'm out of spawn faster than most. I have kits saved to the default buy script/buttons (S = helmet/kevlar, m4, HE, 2 Frashbangs ... G = helm/kev, mp5, HE, 2 Frash, 1 schmoke).

For the special ed folks trying to click things with a mouse, yes, this is faster. But I have most of the list memorized for the weapons I use. And I still beat your ass to the rush.

lol.... i remember when i first started, just about a year ago..... and it took forever for me to buy my stuff (i.e. guns, armor, nades, flashes, etc.).....

About three months after i started, I ended up buying the Logitech G15 keyboard, and have since programmed all of my "G" keys to buy certain equiptment... and has really made a huge difference on getting outta spawn quick.....

I can usually buy everything in less than 2 seconds(a m4, 2 flashes, a nade, kit, helmet and armor).... and still have time to take a drink of beer before the match starts.... lol........

Right on.

I first started playing CS "back in the day" and was never fast at buying my stuff so I've been using buy binds for a few years.

Back in the day I used NextWish which was an awesome buy bind generator and I had stuff saved to my keypad...

so like 0 was armor, ammo, nades, kit and 1-9 were different guns.

It was tight.

I guess i haven't looked, since i can buy sets pretty quick and am also out front alot. But is there a tutorial anyone can point to to set the ingame sets? Or are they always gonna be like that?

I usually do the "B" and "O" menus and have what i want memorized. I usually like to just hit hte keys because if i am low on money i can pick what i really want first before anything else.
