Should I get it?

I was thinking about picking up cs since it's only like ten bucks at Wal-mart and it seems to be pretty popular in ttp and the clan I'm trying to get into. So for ten bucks yes no maybe? What is counter strike source? is it a mod? or an expansion or is it just the game? Drop me some lines here guys yes or no? and hows the server population?

CS has a long history behind it. It started out as a mod for Half-Life back in the day. It quickly became a huge success and after being free for many many years and versions, they released a retail version of the game that was cheaper since many people were just interested in CS and not paying for HL just to get it. Eventually they even got an expansion for the game Counterstrike: Condition Zero, which was a single player game only if I'm not mistaken. If it was multiplayer, I don't think it was a huge success since I don't recall hearing many people talk about it.

Eventually they decided to up the mechanics of the game a little and up the graphics to get with the times. Thus CS:S was born and was packed with HL2 when it came out. The original was at CS 1.6 at the time and many people are still playing that today as well because of the changes in CS:S. For the most part though CS:S is the same as CS 1.6, but comparing the 2 will be a pretty lengthy discussion on it's own.

So it started off as a mod and is pretty much it's own thing now, although I'm sure it will be packaged with all HL and HL2 for awhile. If they make a HL3 and/or a CS3, I'm sure they will come packaged together again so people who want both can have both.

So, yes you should get it since it is only $10 and it will be extremely popular for many years to come. Also, as long TTP hosts CS:S (or 2 or 3 servers for it), it will be worth getting.

Its definitely worth 10$, 15$ maybe, and NOT the original 50$ i payed for it

Counter Strike Source is a OFFICIAL mod off the Half Life 2 engine and is endorsed by valve as well.

CSS is also the 2nd (close to the first, CS1.6) most competitive game online, in lans, online ladders, and even in lans

It sounds like a great game but hows the server population? We talking Up and down from 5-3? or full after about 8 or so? And if I buy the it what am i getting Source or 1.6 or whatever the first version was?

Get Counter Strike Source... The server population is great and growing as a matter of fact. We wouldn't have had to add another server if it wasn't... Get it, jump on, and don't be worried about sucking it up. We're good peeps, so we'll coach you through it if ya want help.

here's a few tips from indiana.

#1 Always buy a Magnum when you have the cash ESPECIALLY if you are a terrorist on cs_Italy. it will make everybody love you and your team will have no issues winning.

#2 If you cannot Afford a Magnum *Aka AWP* Buy a UMP and Duelies *if terrorist* *Glock if Counter-terrorist* most people say that they are "really cheap" but they are really the best guns in the game.

#3 If you see me with a TMP Run like hell because i shoot faster than you.

I don't know too much about the game but can u really buy guns?
