but none of them are what CPL was. that's the point. dilution of the leagues, rather than consolidation into a true competitive league.

it's like the MLB splitting back up into 20 different regional leagues and city leagues, rather than the national.

explain to me why CPL is or was so much better. If its the rules, or the strategies I understand. If its the players, no. I can be "pro" and play in any league I want to, maybe a lot of the "pro" "leet" "h4x0r"people play in CPL but now its gone, so soon enough theyre going to find a new league, and play in that. Which then makes that league the "best".

either that or I totally misread your whole post :P

because the CPL league was undeniably the first major, big money, internationally recognized, major league for gamers. Getting TV and news media coverage, and making competitive gamers famous.

TWLs and OGLs and CALs never did that. and CEVO is big, yeah sure....but it's not the CPL.

Wouldn't mind seeing games like Battlefield make it to the competitive scene... could be interesting, having two 24-man teams with great squad leaders and commanders. There are a few minor issues I have with 2142 that make me think it wouldn't be great for competitive play, but the style of game could do well, I think.

I never figured out how people could play a game so poorly balanced as Counter-Strike so "professionally", though.

TWL has BF series ladders and leagues. It is just smaller scale, which does sometimes suck.

ya twl and ogls are ... the suck...

In a broad perspective you kinda have to appreciate what some of the ladders are trying to do: make a sport out of our hobbies... Even if some of the competing players are punks. :3

There are "pro" leagues out there for the Battlefield games. We were signed up for the CAL 8v8 team I believe it was but they had 12v12 teams also and I'm sure there are others out there that have higher player caps and what not.

People just learned to adapt to CS since it has been around for so long and been one of the first major online FPS games that was a free mod when it first came out. It's not that hard though to hone your skills in CS if that is the only thing you play.

Never even heard of any of these leagues except for like 2 of them. I'm definitely not a "pro".
