    sv_pure

I was wondering why we have this on 1. It only gets rid of your personal gun skins, not player skins. So people can still use player skins on the server.

I understand that if you make it 2 you lose the spray ability, but at least you'd get rid of the possibility of player skins.

    Re: sv_pure

there are other issues other than skins for sv_pure being set to 1. I believe it was something to deal with the ability to change an option in the game so that you could see through walls, idk the particulars, but that is why pure is set to 1.

    Heres the other two topics.
It all boils down to custom weapon skins being able to be modified to poke through walls and wall and door textures being modified to be translucent.

It gets rid of really bright player skins that help exploiters see enemy positions, but other then that, I don't think it does anything usefull against exploiters.

    Re: sv_pure

After reading the threads again, I wanted to ask: are we leaving sv_pure set to 1 without any real modifications? We are prohibiting the use of any custom weapon skins currently and that is the way we are keeping it, correct?

I ask because I saw someone else ask, and wasn't sure what the take on this was. I understand it limits the small advantages of some player models and weapon skins (such as the overly long gun barrels and scopes on weapons that shouldn't have them or the laser sightings), but I personally every now and then like to try something different (within reason, nothing that would actually give me an advantage like mentioned above, I avoid those at all costs). I just get tired of looking at some of these old weapon skins after playing the game for so long and they really haven't changed that much since cs was in beta (well some of them).

I can and will deal with the regular weapon models though and wouldn't mind seeing sv_pure 2 if it helps cut back some of these advantages any further.

I'm pretty sure that it is set this way because people could use material wall hacks from the cstrike folder.

That's what they said, but we should be able to allow weapon skins still by adding it to the whitelist I think it was icon was saying.
