Re: GAMEWAGER Reward Zone
Hey Guys,
I wanted to point out a couple things as a reminder. The new system does have an element of chance to it, but you CAN still overwhelmingly control your odds by the amount you play. (The more you play, the more tokens you should earn.) Under the new system, the more tokens you have, the more tickets you can buy for the prize group you want to win in. For instance, if there are only 10 tickets that have been purchased for the 3rd group (Monitor, Red Bull, etc) before the drawing - and you own 9 of them - more than likely you are going to win. Winner's simply tell us what prize they want from the group they won in and we ship it, that's it!
As the community grows, we will increase the amount of prizes we're giving away so that your odds will stay directly proportionate to the amount of tickets you buy rather than how many people there are.
We're going to have a gadget in the Reward Zone that show's how many tickets you own versus how many are outstanding so that you know how many tokens you want to spend to control your odds. We're also working on some other REALLY kickass stuff that will make the whole experience enjoyable.
More on this soon..

Re: GAMEWAGER Reward Zone
Ya, but what I don't like is...
300 tokens for a ticket (for gas card, laptop, desktop, etc..)
Let's say I use all of my tokens to purchase tickets in that category. Now, if I don't win... Do my tickets stay in there and stay for the next drawing in that category? Or is it once somebody is drawn, you clear out the tickets?
So I would pretty much waste all of my tokens and didn't win a damn thing?
Clarify please..

I also do not like the idea of a lottery.
I have never won the Texas lottery and I play every week so I get the feeling that I have even less of a chance to win anything from your site.
This style means that I could buy 500 tickets and lose to someone that bought 1 ticket. And then we have to assume the person who won the prize isn't in cahoots with gamewager.net and actually received the prize.

I'm not sure I like this idea or not. It might take longer for some people to reach the 50k or 1mil tokens, but I thought that was the point, to make it easy to earn, but not too easy. Now this seems more like a game of chance, especially if the tickets you buy (say you buy nothing but monthly tickets) and you don't win. You just spent all your tokens on tickets to get nothing?
I understand that this is free for us and all, so it doesn't matter too much, but I'm not sure if this will be a fair way to handle prizes or not. Let's say we use your example to a much larger scale. Say there are 1,000 tickets in the 3rd tier prizes (the monthly drawing for the gas card, red bull, etc.) and you have maybe 100 of them (100 tickets you bought X 300 tokens per ticket = 30,000 tokens you spent). So you just spent 30,000 tokens for a 10% chance to win...not the greatest of odds for something that is monthly.
The example might be a bit extreme, but I think once things get rolling, those are about the odds we will see to win if not lower because of the population that plays CS 1.6 and CS:S. So instead of a sure thing once we reach X amount of tokens, now we have to hope we win by chance?
Although in terms of a business model it is more ideal because it can/will limit the winnings to however you guys see fit and will help if your funding is limited etc.

Re: GAMEWAGER Reward Zone
Hey guys, all great ideas and great feedback. Nothing is set in stone ad everything is still on the table. At the end of the day, we want to build a kickass service that accomodates all gamers and allows us to operate long-term. Things will continue to be refined over the coming weeks and months until we have met that goal. In the mean time, keep racking tokens and giving us feedback. Feel free to use the "Got Feedback?" section on the top left of the GW site to help us keep track of your ideas - which greatly shape our decisions!
