Thread: Lagging Out/losing connection...HELP!

hey guys n gals,

So lately (the past 4-5days specifically) i've been getting some frustrating to say the least connection losses. I called my ISP thinking maybe they were doing maintenence or something, and they say on their end the only they see is where my router was reset because of my frustration and helpless thinking that was the problem.

basically about every 15-30min, my internet disappears for no reason, and about 30seconds later it comes back....this is redicuously annoying when trying to play css/cod4. I haven't downloaded anything, all my drivers have been current since july, can anyone help or atleast try to help resolve my issue?

I had this same problem last night for several hours.. my internet was experiencing low connectivity and would go in and out.

As for your situation.. usually a simple router/modem reset will fix these types of problems. If thats not working you can try leaving your modem/router unplugged for a while and then setting it back up. Another simple option is to check in your comps internet settings and try and "repair" your connection or just make sure the settings are correct. I'm assuming you have cable and if you do check your outside line coming into the house because sometimes you get the ol' run around by your provider and there could actually be something wrong with the line thats causing your internet to slow down and drop for short periods... but the provider may still see it as connected and bullshit you.

I know all these are seemingly simple and not very detailed answers.. but if you have not done any of them definitely try it. Outside of that there may be a few similar things you can attempt but you may just have to get your provider to send out a technician to run some tests.

is it your internet going out or is it just steam losing connection. I have been having a horrific amount of Client times outs lately. I had to go into the steam folder and delete a couple of files.

clientregistry.blob steam.dll and steamui.dll

Delete those if it is just steam disconnecting and then verify your steam system files.

Master: it's in everything, i join a java chat and it'll still lose connection. Now my ISP is saying theirs a signal loss and they'll hav a tech out monday at 3pm.

FYI: I have kind of a large scale wireless setup, it sends a signal to a tower 4miles away which is hardlined into a sub andthen gets me to the intrawebs. My speed tests are normal, but their jumpin around like a kid on a trampoline and i've noticed in Net_graph 3 that im pushin 9.86 k/s and 3.45 k/s which is pretty low for me.
