    Curious About Bunnyhopping...

I know the rules. I know we're not supposed to bunny-hop in game, as it gives one player a speed advantage over another player. I understand that, that's fine with me, no problem.

However, I've seen this instance happen a couple of different times in the server, each time with different end result, so I thought I'd go here to get "official" clarification.

Scenario: It's the end of the round and your team just won, you're still alive, but nobody from the other team is alive. You shot the last guy or you defused the bomb...then you get up and bunny-hop for the 3 seconds left in the round before the next round begins. You weren't trying to beat someone from the opposite team somewhere, you weren't trying to "gain advantage" over other players. You were simply bunny-hopping at the end of the map when it would have no bearing on the round whatsoever.

I've seen admins vocally warn a player about bunnyhopping, I've seen an admin slay a player for bunnyhopping after a round, I've seen the godchat "NO BUNNYHOPPING", and I've seen the admin let it slide. Since it provides no advantage and is more of a celebratory thing, I was curious as to the administrations stance on this.

    What's the deal?

    Dont do it.

Just like team flashing after the round is over. It may not determine the outcome of that round, but it is still wrong and disruptive.

How is wrong and disruptive? All it does is waste a good flash...or nothing really.

And it leaves the door open for "Well, I saw that guy do it after the round was over and you didn't say anything." Instead of creating that grey area, bunnyhopping is a prohibited at any point. Keeps it simple.

And really, there isn't a need to do it, so why do it?

As I am sure Pine is aware we leave many rules to admin discretion. Just like some cops ticket for going 1 mile over the limit, some warn, and some don't even pull you over our admins are much the same. Some rule by the letter of the law, and some by the intent of the law breaker. My advice would be to not do it because you never know which cop might be watching.

I think bunny hopping should be allowed. I cant see any reason why its shouldn't except hardliners wanting people to confirm to their play style.

like it such a crazy tactic there is no one good enough on the planet to counter it. if it gives the attacker the advantage fine, then when your the attacker you will have the same advantage some point.

I know th CSS server is awesome, and it shouldn't change but thats my IMHO =)

    Really?

    -Burns your retinas.
-Loud ass pinging in the ears.
-Stop you from grabbing another gun cause you can't see shit.
-Can't hear anyone talking, maybe making strats for the next round.
-Let's people know that you(the team-flasher) are an annoying fucking douchebag.

Do I need to go on?

The ban will remain in place and does not need to be discussed.

Some people do not know how to bunny hop, so it gives only some people an advantage that others do not get. Rules are set so everyone has a fair playing field.

I understand the last 3...but I couldn't help but laugh at the first two.

Are you going to warn/kick/ban people for using it in-game since it burns your retinas and causes a loud ass pinging?

You need to put down the classical music and put on some screamo, that will train your ears

See, I can see why the teamflashing isn't allowed, as it's a pain and annoying and affects other players, but I didn't think that bunnyhopping would affect other players. About as disruptive as I see it is, "Dude, watch Pineapple at the end of the round, he can bunnyhop GOOD." Of course, if it carried over into the next round, yes, possibly a hindrance.

Again...celebratory, showing off, or just havin' some fun. (Come on, who doesn't like bunny hopping down A ramp towards long!) Not trying to infringe on others playing at all, and I don't see it as a negative thing. I can see how people might bring that up, Pimp, but wouldn't it just be easy to say, "It provides no advantage when the round is over," or you know, something simple. Further, 90% of the time, our servers has plenty of regulars on who can tell a player before the admin does, "no bunny hopping during the round. after the round it's fine."

You've probably given the best answer yet. I see what you're saying, but I think if it was commonly understood that if it's at the end of the round, provides no advantage, and is not a server-distraction or team-hindrance, I think players/admins would/should be OK with it.
