Yeah this topic resurfaces every few weeks.
As others have stated, its a vote everyone gets to decide on. And though it usually passes, sometimes it does not. And when it does, there is still the scout. :9

Alright, magically there is a restriction that only allows one AWP per team. Who get to use that one weapon? How do you decide?
One AWP per team sounds good in theory, but in practice just think about how it would play out on the server...

I think we should set up the server so only Civil can have an AWP, ever, and it only costs him $600. Vote yes.

I don't see the problem.
It either gets voted on and restricted or the community decides to keep it.
AWPs just really annoy me when the objective side uses them. Few things are more frustrating than rushing to a site and dying with only 1-2 of your teammates because the rest of your team is way back behind you with an awp staring at a door somewhere.

I don't care how much people will say that they can rush with it just fine, time and time again we have seen a team made up of mainly awpers simply camp instead. We will have a lot of volunteers to pick mid rather than lead the rush.
When the awp is restricted, there is a much smaller change of the above happening. Which is why my annoyance with it (on the rushing team) is directed towards the weapon.
