Thread: question about hackers...

So today on the CSS main server, we had a full server and everything was fine and dandy until this hacker came on and started causing chaos. about half the server left and the other half waited for the admin to kick him. The hacker proceeded to change his name to Salty99 (my name) and started causing more mischief. I hung around for a few more minutes to see if the admin had arrived yet. nothing changed so I left. My question is whether I can get in trouble for somebody else calling themselves Salty99. I talked to some of the other people on the server at the time about what was going on (I have only been in CSS for a few days, and this was my first encounter with a hacker since) to make sure that they knew it wasn't me but with 2 salty99 running around its hard to know which one was me, and which one was the hacker running his mouth off in the chat. I can't get banned or anything for this right? I just wanted to make sure

You wont get in trouble for that. Next time something like that happens type "status" in your console then "jpeg" that will take a ss of everyone that is on the server and their STEAM ID's. Know what your ID is and report back to here with his ID for impersonating you and your id in case the admin banned the wrong guy.

worst case scenario both saltys get banned, come to the forums and say what happened. The banning admin will surely be waiting for you to give him your steamid so he can unban you right away.

thanks, I was wondering what the procedure was for when that happens. I noticed most of the guys before they left went spectator first? what would be the benefit of this?

Probably getting a demo, you can hit ` (open console) and type in "record hacker" and it will start recording a demo named "hacker" which is placed in your CSS folder. Then you can post it under the stickie we have here and we will ban when needed. Also you can type "status" in console and pull everyone's STEAM ID.

Type "stop" when you finish with the demo. If you are going to record multiple demos, make sure to give each one a different name, otherwise you will continue to overwrite the same one.
