Help me with my settings for CSS

I AM POSTING THIS HERE BECAUSE THIS IS THE GAME IM TRYING TO SETUP FOR
I have a very very able cpu. I am tired of not getting registry. I would like my shots to Reg atleast half the time. Any settings that I can change in the console to help? Here is a run down of my cpu. Plus internet connection, plus video settings etc...

    CPU: NVIDIA Systemax X58 Performance Gamer PC - Intel Core i7 920 2.66ghz, genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64 Bit. 12GB DDR3 Ram, 1TB Hard Drive, DVDRW, (2) 9800GT SLI Graphic Cards, 650W 80+ Power Supply

Connection Test : File size 1.4648 MB Time Elapsed 3.797 seconds (Over 2mb per sec)

Monitor: Philips 23 inch Res set at 1176 x 664 Hooked up with HDMI cable.

Game Video Settings: Res 1024 x 768 Aspec ratio normal (4:3) Display mode full screen

Model detail high, Texture detail high, Shader detail high, Water detail high. Shadow detail high, Color correction enabled, Antialiasing mode none, Filtering mode trilinear, Wait for vertical sync is enabled, High dynamic range Full (when available)

Test today at 4:26pm full sever on d2 in using net_graph 3 ......60fps, ping 65, choke range 0-7 (choke from 0-7 quickly back and forth)

Any ideas would be very appreciated!

Re: Help me with my settings for CSS

First and foremost you need to work on your general accuracy. 11% is pretty low. Mouse settings will probably be your biggest benefit to this, but there is a whole different thread on that already in CSS Forums.

    Video Resolution.
Bump your resolution up to your monitor's native resolution(1176 x 664). Right now you are running in 4:3, when you could have a field of view that is 16:9. Also LCDs do not translate non-native resolutions the way CRTs do, so your game is more or less looking much blurrier than it needs to. This should help some with your accuracy. Do the same on your desktop windows setting, as to avoid odd bugs when you window out using alt+tab.
This setting will take some getting use to

    Video Settings.
You noted that you had 60fps in dust2 which seems sorta low for your rig. Was this your average or just what you noticed at the time you looked at the netgraph? Ideally if it hangs between 60-80+ you're plenty good, and shouldnt be causing reg problems until it drops below about twice your average ping (and no I dont mean 65)

For this you have to turn ping into a per second rate. 65ms per 1000ms or 1000/65 or 15 FPS*2 = 30FPS.
(Granted 30FPS looks like shit, just giving you an idea of how little FPS is going to affect registration)

    Antialiasing mode/Filtering mode.

These are taxing on the GPU but make a tremendous difference on your clarity of distance. IF you can bump these up even alittle more without hurting your FPS too much I recommend it.

Start with Antialiasing: You should at the very least be able to do 4xCSAA. This metric is so important to my eyes I have mine bumped up highest possible, I recently dropped it from 16xQ CSAA to 16x CSAA to help stablize FPS. This determines how little/much distortion you see at a distance.

Filtering: Your GPU should do okay with at least Anisotropic 4X

Verticle Sync: Turn this off to increase FPS slightly unless you notice graphic issues such as tearing. (possible with SLI)

Keep in mind to boost FPS you can squeeze a lot out of a lower
    water detail
    shader detail
    texture detail
    shadow detail.

I have these on high because they look nicer, but you may consider bumping some of those down in that order. (I consider shadow detail high importance because of how often I spot people creeping around corners because of it)

I do not anticipate you having too much trouble with 2 9800GT SLI Graphic Cards.

    Console/Cfg file settings.

Since the server is going to limit your rates, you might as well throw in the standard for a 100 tic
    rate 30000
    cl_updaterate 100
    cl_cmdrate 101

As far as cl_interp read http://www.texasteamplayers.com/index.php?topic=252.0
This metric is somewhat confusing, but basically comes down to smoother motion vs more accurate jittery motion.

I wouldnt worry the 0-7 choke much, seems everyone is having this, and its fairly minimal most of the time.

There may be additional console settings you could try, but I am not of much help there. Have felt little need to tweak out the net stuff too much since I am either A) A spray animal or B) trying to be accurate and headshotting from a sneaky location.

I bet this is what gives you 60 fps, as your rig should blow this game out of the water. Turn this off and you will probably get 100+ fps all the time. Also I know that vert sync gives me terrible mouse 'lag' when I turn it on so try it set to off.
    We can do better.

I'd make sure you deal with that choke, if you can. I'm pretty sure that choke is directly related to shitty registration. I've noticed when I get 10-20 choke my shots are noticeably off.

Tips for clearing up choke can be found on google and on sites like this
    http://www.nextlevelgamer.com/counte...twork-settings

I think that you can do cl_interpolate 0 to see exactly what updates the server is sending you without interpolation (or likely with minimal interpolation). This might give you an idea of what effect a bad connection might be having on your registration.

    increase rates, even out interp

use showhitlocation 2 (if thats not it just do a 'find hit', should be one of the first results, or "find showhit') to test settings

With that PC, you should be running CS:S at max everything without any issues at all.

Turn off vertical sync. It limits your FPS to the refresh rate of your monitor.

A choke of 0-7 that's constantly moving throughout an entire round is not a good sign. On certain maps I get choke at the very start of a round, but it goes to 0 within the first 5 seconds of the round starting.

Although TTP servers limit your cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate, i would really suggest setting them both to 66 as I notice a HUGE difference in how registry works when mine are set at 100 as compared to 66. When your rates are set for 100 on TTP, watch them on net_graph 3. You will notice that they are at 67.x and move up and down slightly. When you set your tics to 66, they are at 66.0 and they stay there.

It's very easy to tell who has their rates set to 66 and who doesn't just by speccing them, admins used to tell people to fix their rates all the time. I don't hear that hardly at all anymore.
    I miss you guys....-tczyl2-png

I had my stuff set at 100 tic moved it back to 66. Made some other video changes recommended. 210 fps 0 choke ping 55. So, if you see me with a bad score its cuz of the player not the puter
