Re: CS:S Roundtable Podcasts?
^ That's the one. I really like this as the "pilot" roundtable. Plus it starts it right of with the teamplay.
I also love Duddy's suggestion about a demo or series of demos to go along with them... vid podcasts are very welcome.
The TF2 roundtables tend to run approx 40 to 45 min long (so far) with one break.. we could do these similar or format them in another way.. but if we do demos included we should cover enough footage to make the entire podcasts with vid.. so it might even be an idea to pre-take some demos and have the people who'd be in the round table watch them so that we could reference them in the show.

Re: CS:S Roundtable Podcasts?
I posted in the last thread that map round-tables would be helpful to new players. My first thought was a complete breakdown of Piranesi. This could be followed by other map breakdowns, D2, port, chateau, inferno, cbble, lost temple, rush v2, and many more. It might be very helpful for season, which is a custom map that is played very regularly on this server. Many players, that are new to TPG, have never played season. this could get boring and repetitive if it is the only topic. i do suggest a map round-table on Piranesi. it is an often played map with much to discuss. i wrote a huge list of possible questions about pira for the guests in the last thread.
I really like the idea of getting certain players who excel with certain guns to explain how they use them so well. I like all of the ideas in this thread. I like the idea of explaining the "caller."
One thing about spray patterns is i believe they are best discussed with youtube videos. There are many videos that display the spray patterns for most css guns very well. I would not mind if spray patterns were discussed as well because our TPG regulars could add some more insight to the subject.
I think Duddy would be a great person to interview. He sounds amped up and ready to spread the knowledge.
*here is my original suggestion.

Re: CS:S Roundtable Podcasts?
I like this suggestion. Between footage you could even just display a static logo, that cuts over during the discussion. This also adds some queue markers to help maintain the pace of particular discussions. (Your last CSS podcast was great but the interviews did not feel very rehearsed, which limited the scope of the material)

Re: CS:S Roundtable Podcasts?
haha yeah, it wasn't rehearsed.. I do the Minicasts off the cuff, totally led by the discussion. The Roundtables (at least the TF2 tables) have been done in a more structured manner, with pre-written discussion items/questions, better time-keeping, etc.
Let's do this: Let's go ahead with the "The Caller" Roundtable. It can be audio only. Meanwhile, we start a discussion here about what topic and/or map to do the next show. Once we get that set, we get some demos out and start setting up the show.. perhaps before taking the demos we might want to come up specific points to touch on, so that demo takers know what to be taking demos of.. and try to get footage both in 1st person, and 3rd person where possible.
Now.. I'm a CS:S n00binator and I don't know shit.. so.. I'm passing off content creation to Raush, *Rob, and if he wants to participate, Duddy (as he's the one who suggested demos, and that means I assume he's willing to contribute on said demos). This isn't to play favorites, but because they came to me about this and are motivated. Raush will be co-hosting with me (or whomever perhaps takes over as main host from me *cough*civil?*cough*.. main host will always be someone from Media, that's just the way it's gotta be). But if you guys feel you have some insights to a specific map tactic, or whatever, don't hesitate to chime in.
That's the nice thing about the Roundtables.. it's not Media saying "here's a podcast we made", but instead they are mor "By the community, for the community."Last edited by Walkerxes; 06-17-10 at 05:29 PM.

Re: CS:S Roundtable Podcasts?
Well Raush and Rob im gonna be sending you guys pm's so we can start with the map stuff.
Before we start is there a particular map that the community would like to see done first? Im probably gonna start a poll in another thread to get a feel for what the community wants.

Re: CS:S Roundtable Podcasts?
i'm down to talk about callers, good for a small podcast.
love to talk about maps, since calls and maps are directly related.
before weapons, i'd really like to see a podcast on money management and situation (and am willing to participate). weapons are direclty related to $ and situation, so before talking about weapons individually maybe a podcast about the variables affecting their selection?
just some thoughts. oh, and i love the one on smokes and flashes. can't be a t without them.

Re: CS:S Roundtable Podcasts?
Sorry I was out of town at a wedding since Thursday,
Hit me up with a PM duddy, we can talk about more specifics. I'm available almost every night for the actually recording of the podcast, so whenever it works for you should be fine. And thank you Manno for volunteering your expertise and being a part of this.
Rob and I have had several discussions about our roles in the podcasts, and Rob has decided that he doesn't want to be a coordinator or co-host for the CSS podcasts at this time. He'll just supply me with a never-ending list of great ideas
