Thread: CS:S Players and their Rigs

I thought I would ask this question here instead of starting a new thread. What do you guys set for your resolution when using a 24" monitor? I just got a 24" and it seems that CS:S does not support my aspect ratio/native res.

I have an Asus 24" and it's Native Res is 1920 x 1080. I must be super naive about this because I went through the res selections in game (Options > Video) and only found 1600 x something or other that was "close".

After a cursory goog search I am finding most people have to adjust launch options, edit config files etc. to get it working but these threads could be antiquated.

Oh yes and you can also force a resolution (if supported by gfx card/monitor) with the command line arguments of the game launcher.

If you launch using a desktop or start menu icon:
Right click the icon choose properties.
Go to the shortcut tab.
Add this to the end "Target" command add something like this: -width 1920 -height 1200



If you launch using steam interface:
Open steam community.
Go to Games -> View Game Library
Right click Counter-Strike Source choose Properties
Click Set Launch Options
Add this to same to the end of these options: -width 1920 -height 1200

That's awesome GReYVee, thanks for going above and beyond to answer my question. I appreciate it. Playing at 1600 x whatever was making me see into the spirit realm.

Yeah, it sounds like this is your simple solution roy. Default ratio for source si 4:3. Once you change the ratio to 16:9 (the option should be right underneath your resolution option) 1920 x 1080 should show up.
