New sounds
The latest update made the AK and M4 sound different.
The AK feels like it sprays more accurately too.

Updates to Counter-Strike: Source have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:
Counter-Strike: Source
Fixed new weapon firing integration causing some guns to over-fire on single taps
Fixed a couple of cases where machine guns could skip slightly with enough lag
Fixed c4 explosion pre-caching
Added precise audio timing fixes for client-side prediction
Increased the tolerance for skip detection in client side audio to prevent sound dropping out due to client clock drift

I really don't care for the new sounds. It wasn't only the AK and the M4, either. I was playing a GunGame right after the update because I was getting the "server is running an older version" error when I tried to join TPG and the Galil, P90, Para, and FAMAS all sounded different. I think the TMP might have sounded different as well. It seemed like only the weapons that scoped in didn't have any changes in how they sound.
Regardless, the change of sound was throwing off my game and apparently I wasn't alone in that happening to me...

At least they are working on CSS now. They will fix it, just give them some time.
And although unrelated to the sound issue, valve is currently fixing numerous bugs in dust2 and dust, including illegal boost spots, dust floating around that is not as transparent as it should be, and adding HDR (which is optional).We can do better.

That explains a lot, was wondering WTH last night... Ya, these new sounds are awful. I hope Valve can get their shit together over CSS: Changing sounds of guns and adding new features is all fine and dandy, but not until you fix critical crap first... like not being able to defuse a bomb when theres another object on it... or a ragdoll... or, soon, air.

Because that isn't why or how I play.
