Ask the BigTex guys. When they used to play CS:S all the time people always asked/assumed they were the admins since their tag/name was BigTex, and the server was Texas TeamPlayers.

It's almost the same with AONO and PR.
We'd get asked all the time to do something, and we'd be like... we're not admins...
So yea, clan tags do have a huge influence, and a TPG tag would be... bad.

Just ask bigdog to come in here and say his piece, haha. For real though, TPG can be spread other ways without NEEDING the tag...I really don't think it would help much anyways.

Im not saying tpg clan tags would be good but if everyone had them it would defiantly take away the deception.

I can see where the people against this are coming from, but I always liked the idea of being able to tag up if you want and show support for a community you enjoy being a part of. I know there are other ways of doing this as someone else mentioned, but tags are quick and easy. A lot of people are bringing up the point about this not being a clan and whatnot, but you don't have to be a clan or a team to wear a tag. I've seen this idea be extremely successful in another server I used to frequent.
They had 2 tags, 1 for their clan members and 1 that regulars could throw on. There are 2 things that make it work imo. The first is that the tag they use for regulars is related to the clan, but not super obvious, that is, it's not the clan's name or something like that (It's actually based off of their logo). So it's something that's identifiable as being a part of the community, but at the same time, it's not something that someone playing there for the first time is going to see and think "admin" or w/e else. The 2nd thing is that they have a message explaining what the tag is...Something along the lines of "Are you a regular and want to show your pride? Add blah blah blah to the end of your name." It just gets the word out there about what the tag is all about, and again, helps explain to newcomers that these are regulars, and not admins.
Anyway, like I said, I can understand where both sides of the argument are coming from...I'm just throwing my 2 cents out there

It's a bad idea for a lot of reasons.
The biggest one I can think of though is that it gives the illusion that we are a clan when we are not, but it'll appear that way to say sponsors.
People hardly read the MOTD anyways, so they'll still assume it'll be a clan tag or something that it is not.
The whole reason why we changed from TTP to TPG was to get away from the idea that we are a local community or just some clan so this would be a step backwards. Besides, it's not like it is hard to identify the regulars anyways once you start playing here on any of our servers. There is no need for it in any sense.

It'd open up a can of worms, and I like how currently people have to establish themselves as regulars by getting a good reputation around the servers through hard work. Regulars can show love for the servers by making sure there are always competent, friendly people making great calls and defenses, and helping out any new players with questions on how things work around here.

I'd say yes but not required, if they wanna show off their allegiance to TPG and they travel it's only extra advertising for us but free.

To me, having a tag for regulars is like wearing a jersey to a baseball game. It's a simple, visual way to show your support, in addition to cheering and all that other stuff. I know, wearing a tag in CS is a slightly different story, but I hope you can see the point I'm trying to make. Being able to wear a tag as a regular is a quick, visual way to show your support, in addition to being active, setting an example for other players through your play and attitude, and all that other good stuff.
I'm not quite sure why so many people seem to be treating the concept of a clan like it's the plague. I mean, I get that this community isn't a clan, and that you don't aspire to be one. But if I'm being honest, this community is exactly like every single clan I've ever been in with obviously the one big exception being that you don't actually have members. Public servers, regular members that populate those servers, a sense of community both on and off of the servers, standards for conduct, etc...All things that have been a part of the clans I've been in.
I should probably point out that I really don't care about being able to wear a tag, since if I'm being honest, I wouldn't wear it even if I could. I just like the idea of it. Really, I'm just confused and trying to figure out why it seems like people think this is the worst idea ever =\Last edited by Sundance; 08-01-10 at 02:23 PM.
