Hostages, rules clarification please
This came up last night/today, and I was one of the people that might have broken a rule and I would like to get clarification on it. I hopped on the server for the last few rounds of estate, and was running around like an idiot (much to the entertainment of my team) and it got to the point where all the hostages were rescued but the one on the second floor in the room on the left. There was only one T left and it was obvious he was camping in the room. So I forget if I tossed a nade in the room or if I flashed and sprayed into it, but regardless I killed the hostage and the terrorist and the CT won the round. Is what I did ok? My thought process wasn't "hey I should just kill this hostage and win", I wanted to kill the terrorist and not kill the hostage. But now if I am in a situation on that map and there is only one hostage left and 3 or 4 terrorists, it seems like the best way to win would be to kill the hostage and not the Terrorists. Is that allowed? I would assume not.
The other thing I noticed Manno complaining about (which I don't think I witnessed because I got on the map late) is that terrorists were killing the hostages in the basement. What even is the purpose of doing that? Just keeping the CT from getting the money? I would think this is something frowned upon because it actually makes it easier for the CT team to win, at the expense to the Terrorist team. Either way, definitive clarification on these issues would be a big help to myself, and with the addition of the hostage maps, we might be encountering this more often.

Re: Hostages, rules clarification please
T's killing all of the hostages is unacceptable. If I am understanding you correctly, the T's were killing hostages in one location in order to force the CT's to rescue the hostages in another. I see no problems with this.
It's something I've seen cs_ofice. The 2 hostages in the conference room are left alive, and the other 2 are killed, forcing the CT's to rescue those 2. Then the T's hole up and defend those hostages. This prevents the CT's from rescuing the 2 "easy" hostages and killing the last 2.

Ahh ok, that makes perfect sense, and fits well with the whole Terrorist persona anyways. Although in real life a SWAT team killing the remaining hostages in order to declare victory probably wouldn't go over too well, hahaha, I understand that we play CSS... but it still feels wrong. But I won't hesitate to kill that hostage in the room given the chance for an easy victory. It would be stupid to chance the rescue for a few extra $$$ for guns.
Thanks for clarifying this Civil and Space!

Personally, you shouldn't do it no matter what team you're on. I think it defeats the purpose of a hostage rescue map if you kill off two of them. Yes I know the map info say you only need two, but I bet they did that cause getting all four without an accidental death of one is difficult.

And the same thing goes for on the T side. Technically, killing the other team is an "objective." But that doesn't make it right to shoot off the Hostages so you have a better chance of doing that. De_maps say the same thing, so is it ok for me to throw the bomb away and say "just kill ct's"? No. Cause you aren't perusing the objective.
But that then leads me to the most infuriating thing about Ct's on CS maps. I constantly see people on office pass by the easy hostages and just go for kills. That's not the objective, the objective is to get them out.

The objective is to win the best way possible with the tools you have. On de maps dropping the bomb is not the same thing. To me it would be the equivalent of saying the call was split A, they have A stacked, there are 2 of us, and 5 of them, so let's rotate back to B and give it our best shot. If I am the last CT, and there are 2+ Ts, I am going to kill the last 2 hos, and win the round before I try to fight my way through and die.
